Maybe they’ll learn a lesson.
He looks up from his phone as soon as he sends that last text and grits out, “Our friends are about to find out why you don’t fuck around with our initiate.”
Stuart, the dumbass, shakes his head. “Whatever, man. It’s so obvious all of you have a hard-on for her.”
I hiss out a breath.True.But totally not the point or to his advantage to bring up at this moment when he and his buddies are already obviously on our shit list. “Oh, man. You are so, so asking for it.”
Kingston gives them a nasty smirk. “And that’s irrelevant, in any case, and not helping you at all.”
They’ll soon enough regret opening their mouths. All of them. And they don’t even see it coming. With the go ahead from Kingston, I clap my hands together. “Bridger, Joel, Stuart, Alec. Out to the SUVs.”
“What?” Joel whines. “It’s like ten. I have class early.”
Kingston roars, “I don’t give a fuck what your situation is. You’re fucking up. And if you want to remain in this brotherhood, you’ll follow my instructions.” He jabs his finger toward the staircase. “Now, let’s go.” When they don’t immediately move, he barks again, “Get your fucking asses off the couch. Head to the SUVs.Now!”
I spare a quick glance as Zeke chuckles to himself. “Ah, shit.” He wets his lips, almost as if he’s enjoying this. I mean, he’s not wrong. These asswipes are in for a night of misery.
The four assholes grumble, and if he could, Alec would be shooting daggers at Kingston from his eyes. “This is fucking stupid.”
As he’s closest, Cannon lunges forward, gripping him by his polo shirt. He might not be saying anything, but his meaning is clear.Do what we say, or I’ll fuck you up.With his jaw clenched, he gets right in Alec’s face, his breath heaving before he gives him a shake and lets him go so quickly that Alec stumbles into the edge of the couch before scrambling away.
“You’d better be in those vehicles by the time we get up there." Kingston glances at Zeke, who is still sitting there laughing to himself. “You have something to say?”
“No, man. I appreciate the way you’re dealing with them. Am I dismissed?”
“Yes,” Kingston barks, and we watch as Zeke leaps up from the couch and follows the others up the stairs.
Finally, it’s just the three of us and Dane. Kingston grips the back of his neck with his hand before nodding at him. “Thank you for speaking up.”
“Anytime. That bastard didn’t have a clue I saw him. He deserves whatever else you have up your sleeve tonight.”
“Indeed.” I grimace at the idea that these fuckers have been messing with Elliot under our noses… but then my lips twitch a bit in amusement because if Kingston will let me, I want to fuck with them so bad, make them regret they ever thought they could harm Elliot and get away with it.
From the corner of my eye, I see Cannon nudge Kingston, who, in response to Cannon’s unspoken request, meets Dane’s eyes. “Can we ask you to keep an ear open for Elliot while we’re gone?”
“Sure.” Dane’s teeth sink into his lower lip as he studies us.
I clap my hand on his shoulder. “You okay? You look a little green.”
Dane scrubs his hand through his already casually messy hair. “I’m good. I’m glad you’re on top of this. I don’t want to see Elliot get hurt. And I keep thinking about what she’s already been through in her short time here… and what’s coming.”
I shrug. “We don’t want her hurt either, man.” I gesture with my pointer finger toward the ceiling. “She’s probably sleeping, but if you could check on her, that’d be great. She’s got her door locked. You’ll have to knock and hope she answers.”
“Yeah. I heard you guys installed a dead bolt.” His gaze wanders the three of us before finally landing on me.
“And more cameras are on the way.” I shoot him a wink before smoothly stating, “No secrets in the brotherhood.” I hold my hand out, and he responds by clasping his with mine.
Our eyes connect before his slide to Cannon’s, then Kingston’s before he repeats my words. “No secrets.”
* * *
After I graba few things to aid us in really fucking with these guys tonight, Kingston, Cannon, and I head outside to where the guys are waiting for us. We stride quickly toward them, but before we even make it, a growl erupts from Kingston. “What are you, stupid? I told you to get into the SUVs and wait for us.”
“You didn’t tell us how we should split up.” Bridger frowns, glancing at the vehicles and looking more and more like he’s going to piss himself over whatever he thinks is about to happen.
Out of nowhere, Cannon barrels past me and slams the full weight of his six foot two, two-hundred-ten-pound body into Bridger, who literally flies through the air before landing on the asphalt driveway. Oh,shit. But the dickhead really shouldn’t have taken his eyes off Cannon with the way he’d been getting the stare down from him during our discussion.
From down on the ground, Bridger moans and rolls over, his eyes widening as Cannon looms over him, then nudges him with his foot. An intimidating look on his face, he points directly at Bridger and then at Elliot’s window that overlooks the front yard.
