Brett’s mind whirled. He felt like he was standing on a tall cliff, overlooking a huge sea, and he was being coaxed to jump right down into it without knowing what would happen. Without knowing if he would float on the possibilities, or sink down into debt, penury, maybe even not have the money to pay the property taxes and lose the little house that his parents had left him.

He couldn’t. He couldn’t risk it. Could he? When he looked into John’s eyes, he could almost swear that yes, he was brave enough. And he knew that he had the skills, the experience, but what he didn’t have was any idea what went into running a business, or even how to start.

John’s hand settled around his wrist, and Brett groaned softly and just let himself fall into the bed, knowing that he could trust John to catch him, though still a little bit surprised when strong, warm arms pulled him close, and he felt the thrilling rasp of stubble against his cheek and neck as John nuzzled close.

“I can’t quit. I don’t want to try to find a job,” he murmured, his lips slipping over John’s jawline, tingling a little at the brush of the coarse hair there. He inhaled deeply, drawing in the scent of John, John in the morning, John still smelling like sweat and cum and sex. Every breath he drew in made his head spin, made the things that John was saying to him sound more like a possibility.

“I told you, don’t find a job. Make your own,” John replied, his full, soft lips finding the lobe of Brett’s ear and suckling at it lightly. How could such a simple thing make Brett’s whole body seem to pulse and flow toward him? It was so hard to think suddenly, and that, he realized, as John gripped his hip and pulled him closer, wasn’t the only thing that was hard.

“I would need things. A business license. A website. A studio. Equipment.” He paused and then groaned and relaxed a little, rocking his hips toward John’s, seeking out more of the teasing pressure of his lips. The night before had happened so quickly, and at the time, Brett had been sure that it would never happen again.

What if he’d been wrong? Well, then, he definitely wanted to enjoy what was happening between them this time. Wanted to learn what would make John crazy for him, what would turn John on until he couldn’t think, like John was so easily doing to Brett.

“I’d need a website,” Brett spoke desperately, a man drowning in desire grasping for something to pull him up out of it so that he could think, because he had to get to work.

“I can build you a website,” John replied, and Brett was actually surprised enough that he pulled away from John to look at him, searching his face, sure that it had to be a joke. “What, don’t believe me? I’ll prove it. Later.”

They kissed, and it started off slow and sleepy, tongues slipping together easily, but it all got a lot more heated as John started to wake up fully. Brett moaned and reached down, first with his right hand, but that hand was still holding the phone that he had been too stunned to ever put down.

So he went with the left instead, and he wrapped his fingers around John’s cock, stroking him slowly and kissing him over and over. But when John tried to take the phone from him, to push it aside, Brett shook his head and clung on to it.

“No,” he asserted, and John frowned, but pulled his hand away, for the moment.

“Brett, you can’t go in, everyone needs a day off sometimes,” John informed him, and Brett sighed because he knew that it was true. He was running on empty, and it wasn’t so much that he hadn’t known that before, it was just that John, hearing him speak, had made it impossible for him to ignore it any longer.

“I know,” he admitted, and then raised his phone and tapped out a quick text to his boss.

Sorry, I can’t come in. I’ll see you tomorrow.

There. That made it pretty clear, right? He wasn’t just disappearing on his boss. With that done, he let John take the phone away from him, let him shove it roughly aside and out of the way.

There was a brief moment of worry, of regret, but then John rolled on top of him and kissed him like his life depended on it and suddenly, Brett couldn’t even think about anything else.
