“Feral kids,” Axe groans.

“Clearly, they take after their fathers. Hey, Wire,” a feminine voice calls as Dani slips under Axes arm and gives me a hug.

“Hey, Dani girl, how are you doing?” I say, giving her a hug back.

“I’m good. Come say hello to the others. You’ve not met Jade or Kelly yet. Jade is Tinhead’s ol’ lady, and Kelly belongs to Dagger.

I greet the ol’ ladies I’ve not met and hug the ones I know. Dani tells a prospect to get my room ready, and she hands me a beer.

“Thank you, darlin’, that’s much needed,” I tell her before taking a pull of it while it’s still cold.

“You’re welcome. Finish the beer while you shower, and I’ll rustle up some food for you.

Nodding, I head for the bedrooms and find the one where the prospect is finishing making the bed. I leave my beer in the room and go grab my bag from my bike. By the time I come back, the bed is made, and the prospect has disappeared. Locking the door, I dump my bag on the bed, grab my wash stuff and clean clothes, and head for the shower.

It feels nice to wash the road dust from me, and I start to feel more relaxed.

After my shower, I head back downstairs as my stomach starts to rumble. Entering the main room, Axe waves me over to the table he is sitting at with Dani, Bear, and Jenna.

“Hey man, come join us,” Axe calls as I get closer.

“Thanks.” I nod, taking a seat.

A prospect appears with an ice-cold beer for me.

“Let me grab you some food. You must be so hungry,” Jenna says as she jumps up and heads for the kitchen. Bear watches her go.

“God, I love that woman, but she’s always feeding someone,” Bear mutters.

Axe and Dani laugh at him, and I chuckle too.

“It’s part of the reason you love her, big guy,” Dani laughs at him.

“Yeah, it really is. Jenna can cook.”

Jenna comes back a few minutes later with a bowl full of chili and a thick piece of cornbread. It smells delicious.

I dig in and the taste bursts in my mouth.

“Fuck, this is delicious, darlin’.”

Jenna’s face flushes under my praise, and I can’t help but smirk.

They chat about nothing much really while I finish my food and wash it down with my beer. I really do now feel more relaxed, but I’m starting to feel more tired as the night goes on.

“Hey man, it’s been a long day for you. Why don’t you hit the hay?” Bear says from next to me.

“Good idea. I could use a good night’s sleep.”

Wishing everyone a good night, I head to bed.

The next morning, I wake feeling really refreshed after the best night’s sleep I’ve had in what feels like forever. After a quick shower, I head down for breakfast.

“Morning,” Tinhead greets me as he’s sitting with a coffee.

“Morning,” I reply as I pass him in the kitchen to get myself a coffee.
