“I’m so proud of you,” she says while peppering my face with kisses. My girl is a kook.
“Thank you, Babydoll.”
“Sewing kit is in the cupboard. You best get sewing it on,” she tells me, patting my chest as she turns to finish cooking.
I grab the sewing kit and sew the patch into the place where my SAA patch used to be. I feel pride swirling in my chest as I finish sewing it into place. They are some big boots to fill, and I really hope I do BJ proud.
“Babydoll, where is Beau?” I ask, joining Carrie back in the kitchen. Whatever she is cooking smells amazing.
“Oh, he’s at a sleepover with a school friend, remember?”
“Didn’t realize that was tonight. So, we have the house to ourselves to celebrate?” I whisper the last part in her ear as I wrap my arms around her waist and bury my head in her neck, nipping at the soft skin.
She tilts her head to give me better access to her neck, so I lay soft kisses on the exposed flesh.
“Yes, we have the house to ourselves, and yes, we can celebrate. But later, now go set the table.” The little minx moves out of my hold and carries on cooking. With a groan, which she chuckles at, I set the table for the two of us.
We sit at the table, eat a delicious meal, and catch up on what has been happening in our life together.
“How was church? Your first as Prez.”
“My first was memorable. Just not in the way I wanted,” I say with a sigh.
“Babe, what happened? Talk to me.”
“I don’t want to burden you with this. It’s club business.”
The look she gives me could make me drop dead on the spot.
“Do not pull that shit with me, Jason Miller. We both know BJ confides in Pip. It’s my job as the President’s ol’ lady to help him through and support him. So, do not pull club business on me.”
Wow, she fully named me. She only does that when I’ve really pissed her off.
“Okay, Babydoll. Wire was the main issue we discussed. He didn’t seem bothered that his brothers were being promoted. A few called him out on it, and he stormed out of church. We know whatever happened when he was taken is affecting him, so he’s going to get two choices.”
“And what exactly are those two choices?” her voice has an edge to it.
“He either seeks professional help, or he goes Nomad. I can’t have him around Beau and our princess once she’s born. I will not endanger my family.”
She is now looking at me like I have two heads.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course, I’m serious. I would never joke with yours or my children’s safety.”
“And you think Wire is a threat to our safety? Wire, your brother. The man who has always had your back, no questions asked. Always been there to help and support.”
“He is not the same person.”
“So what? He’s struggling, not coping with what happened to him. It’s clear he’s struggling.”
“Then he needs to do something about it.”
“Ah, okay. Because dealing with your issues is so easy. Asking for help is so easy.”
“He could at least try.”
“Fuck you, Jason.”
