They picked up Chastity from school, who immediately recounted her day’s events with eagerness. She’d become far chattier and less reserved since Kady had entered her life. When the three of them entered Kaye’s Kakes, Chastity dashed to the display counter.

From behind, Wes pulled Kady into his arms, his face resting against hers. “This is where we first met.”

“We’ve come full circle.”

“Are you happy?”

Her arms tightened over his. “Immensely. My blog is already trending and I’m getting offers to guest post on major sites.” He felt her cheeks expand against his. “And I met you and Chas, and gained two families at the same time. It’s been an incredible ride.”

“Do you want get off any time soon?”

She nuzzled close. “I don’t think I’ll ever want to get off. You?” She rotated in his arms, wrapping hers around his waist.

“I think I’m good where I’m at.”

And he covered her mouth with his, sealing his love and uniting their hearts forever.

Epilogue

Five Months Later

“That was gutsy.”Keke said, popping another pink mini cake into her mouth. She was convinced Kat was having a girl despite the gender reveal party a few months ago confirming the baby was a boy. “Coming here, acting all friendly with my family, knowing all along you were our half-sister. Investigating my brother-in-law too.” The same brown eyes she shared with Kady scanned Kady’s form with a mix of dislike and admiration. “You’re lucky it’s three against one, so I have to accept you.”

Kady forced a smile. She’d asked to speak to Keke away from the other guests. This was their first face-to-face since telling Keke who she was over video chat months ago. They hadn’t spoken since, despite Kat and Kori’s efforts to get Keke to be reasonable. Keke was the stubborn sister. “Look, I know it wasn’t exactly the right way to go about it. I’m sorry.”

“You thought we took you daddy away.”

“I learned differently.”

“Yup.”

Kady glanced around Kat’s den, a number of ladies chatting and snacking before the next baby shower game. Blue balloons were tied to every chair, a matching-colored tablecloth over the food and presents table, and everyone was wearing a necklace with dangling blue paperclips.

Keke had flown into town for the combined baby shower for Kat and Kori’s gender reveal party. Kori was carrying twins: one of each. Kady didn’t want any bad blood between them, but Keke was the stubborn one of the three. “I don’t want to cause any trouble here, but I’m hoping you can forgive me,” Kady pleaded quietly.

Keke’s lips twisted to the side. “Well, I don’t really know you, but I have it on good authority that you’re amazing. So…”

“So?”

“So, fine. We’re sisters after all. Blood is stronger than anything.”

Tension rolled off Kady’s chest as they hugged. “Thank you, Keighly.”

“Welcome to the fam.”

Kady spotted Wes from behind a wall. She darted out of the room.

“Hey beautiful.” He planted a swift kiss on her lips.

“Something wrong?”

“I just wanted to steal you away for a second.” He interlaced his fingers with hers and pulled her onto the back porch. The enclosed porch offered a barrier against the chill of winter, allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the snow-covered back lawn. Chastity sat in the swing, but slid off when they entered. She hopped up and down, her cheeks rosy and wide from grinning.

Kady cocked her head to one side. “Hey, Chas. I thought you were at the party.”

“Ihaveto be here for this.”

“What’s ‘this’?”
