“What about your doctor?” she asked between kisses.
He slid his arms around her waist, drawing her close to his chest. “You’re the therapy I need.”
She rested her head over his heart. “I want this…a life with you and your daughter. With my sisters and Mary.”
“No more lies.”
She stared up at him. “I promise. None.”
He cupped her cheek and drew her up for another kiss. “Good, because Chastity will never speak to me again unless you’re in her life.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“I won’t let you.” He pressed his lips firmly against hers. They weren’t in any physical danger, but he would protect her and his daughter with his life, his condition be damned.
Her eyes twinkled with love and humor. “You really think Kat would hire me again? I do need a job…”
Mary peeked her head in. “Kori is here. Are you ready?”
Kady bit her lip and looked at Wes. He gave her a gentle squeeze. “They’re your sisters. They’ll forgive you.” As she slipped away, he caught her arm. “Wait. We said no more lies so…” He looked at Mary. “One more minute?”
“Sure.”
When Mary left, Wes met Kady’s apprehensive gaze. “I… Kat and Drew already know.”
“What? How?”
“Right after the meeting with the FBI. I let it slip. I’m sorry, Kadynce. I was…angry.” He shrugged. “Please forgive me.”
She stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his. “Of course. I shouldn’t have kept it from them and it wouldn’t be fair to expect you to do the same.”
“I asked them not to tell.”
“Thank you.” Kady took a deep breath, her face tense. “Wish me luck?”
“You don’t need it. Your sisters are amazing, you know that. They’ll welcome you.” He planted a quick kiss on her forehead.

Kady’s sisterswere lounging on a sofa in one corner while their husbands were at the counter. Wes joined the men, pulling Chastity up onto his lap, leaving Kady to cross the dining area alone.
As Kady took a seat opposite her sisters, Mary winked. Kady rubbed her palms down the length of her thighs. “Um, well… You know I’m a reporter and that I was assigned to investigate Drew. But…but what you don’t know is the real reason why I’m in Springfield.” She swallowed and coughed, wishing she had a cup of water. Her gaze volleyed between her sisters. “Your father, Gregory, met my mother and…well, here I am.”
Kori’s hands went to her mouth. Kat feigned a look of surprise.
Kady continued. “I’d always thought he abandoned my mother and wanted nothing to do with me because he liked his other family better. My mother never said a bad word about him, but she didn’t keepmostof the truth from me,” she added, thinking about her mother’s journal. “He didn’t want to support me. Nevertheless, not having a father figure in my life was difficult. Not having his support. My mother having to do all and be all for me.”
“Mom, did you know?” Kori asked Mary.
“I didn’t know everything, but I knew she was your sister the moment I saw her.” Mary squeezed Kady’s hand. “I guessed she was here to find us and would tell us in her own time.”
“And you said nothing?”
“It’s Kady choice—to want a family or not.”
“I…figured it out too,” Kat said. Kady silently thanked her sister for not revealing her source with a knowing smile.
Kori’s head snapped to her sister. “Am I the last one to know?”
