Fuuuucckkk.
It’s noon by the time I wake the following day, the bonus of working until almost midnight last night meaning I now have the day off. It’s probably just as well given the monster hangover I’ve currently got.
I shuffle my way into the kitchen and make some coffee before collapsing on the couch and channel surfing on the TV.Sometime in the afternoon I force myself to eat something, but I must doze off because when a knock at the door wakes me, it’s dark outside.
I glance at my phone, and see it’s after six.Jesus where has the day gone?
The knock sounds out again and I have to bite my tongue at the impatience of whoever’s decided to drop by as I push off the couch and make my way to the front door.
“What?”I grumble as I open it.
“Hey,” Sarah says, standing on my dark front porch, grinning up at me.“Bit hungover, huh?”
I freeze, my foggy brain unable to comprehend if she’s really here or if I’m still asleep on the couch and dreaming all of this.
“You going to invite me in?”she asks, rocking on her heels and looking far too cheery and alert for someone who was as drunk as I was last night.
“Ah, what…ahhh, what are you doing here?”I stammer.
Sarah rolls her eyes as she steps toward me, one hand on my stomach as she moves me aside and walks into my house.I wordlessly close the door before turning and following her into my living room.I watch as she takes it all in, the coffee mug, the empty bottle of Gatorade and the mostly eaten pizza that litter my coffee table.
“Sarah?”I ask, hungover, half asleep and totally confused.
She turns now, her grin widening.“Well, Ryan is as hungover as all hell and even grouchier than usual,” she says with a flick of her hand.“Erin is annoyed she’s not hungover and is taking it out by unpacking all of Ryan’s stuff that he has yet to unpack,” she says, staring up at me.“And I was bored,” she adds, giving me a look that says she’s more than just bored.“Thought I’d drop by.”
“How?”I start, shoving a hand through my hair as I try to force my brain to get with the program.I watch as her eyes flick to my stomach, the way she licks her lips when they do.I shake my head, force myself to concentrate.“How’d you even know where I live?”
“Please,” she says walking out of the living room and down the hall to my kitchen as though she lives here.“Small towns are all the same, everyone knows where everyone lives,” she says as she opens my fridge and grabs two beers.
Twisting the cap off one, she smiles, hands it to me and says, “Hair of the dog.Trust me, it’ll help,” before opening the second and taking a long sip.
I stand in the middle of my kitchen unable to make sense of what’s going on right now.How the hell is this woman, who I haven’t been able to stop thinking about, standing in my house, making herself at home as though this is all completely normal? And how I am so totally okay with it, too?As much as I might have implied last night that anything happening between us was a bad idea, I know I didn’t really mean it.
I do want something to happen between us, because not only am I incredibly attracted to her, I also want more.A lot more and not even Ryan or my resistance to long-term relationships can dampen that.
“Drink, Finn,” she whispers, stepping closer and nudging the bottle toward me.
I do as she says, surprised at how easily the cold beer goes down.Swallowing, I ask, “Where exactly does Ryan think you are right now?”
I can’t help but wonder if she’s told him or worse still, he already knows what’s previously happened between us.Although given he isn’t currently beating down my door, I’m guessing she hasn’t.
Sarah shrugs.“Told them I was going for a drive,” she says.“Checking out the town and I’d bring home dinner.”
I chuckle now.“Won’t be a long drive,” I say, swallowing hard as she takes a step closer to me.
“Well then,” she says, as she reaches out and slides a finger into the waistband of my sweats, tugging me toward her.“Guess we’d better get started then, hadn’t we?”
Then she pushes up on her toes and kisses me, hard.
I almost stumble backward in shock and it’s only Sarah’s hand gripping my sweats that keeps me on my feet. She steps even closer, pressing her body against mine as she deepens the kiss.
My body reacts instinctively, my arm wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer as her lips part beneath mine.
“Sarah,” I murmur, half in protest even though my body is screaming at me to shut the hell up.
“Shut up, Finn,” she says, her hand now sliding into my sweats and finding my dick.
I let out a loud groan, my body practically humming with desire as she starts to slowly stroke me.“What about your brother?”I force out, even though Ryan is the last thing I want to be thinking about right now.
