A smile curved her pink lips. She didn’t have much makeup on at all, and still, she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. Her auburn hair was pulled up into a loose bun on top of her head, with tendrils falling in spiral curls here and there. She wasn’t even trying to be gorgeous, and yet she still was.

“It’s got a higher moisture content than banana bread.” She finally took a sip of the drink, then put it down. “Would you terribly mind if I took a quick shower? I’ve been cooking, and the kitchen was hot as Hades.”

“I wouldn’t mind at all. As a matter of fact, I’ll clean this up and leave it in the hall for guest services to pick up.” The thought of her coming back smelling fresh and clean enticed me to no end.

“Good. I’ll just finish up then and get to the shower.” She took a few more bites, then placed her napkin on her plate. “You can find something you’d like to watch while I’m showering.”

I would find something we could watch together. Something romantic, and maybe even a little funny. I loved her laugh. “Will do.”

As she got up to make her way to the bathroom, she suddenly stopped and went to the dresser. “I can’t come back out here with nothing more than a towel on. I need to take my clothes in there with me.”

“You’re taking the fun out of this for me.” I teased her.

She pulled out a set of dark green silk pajamas, then put them back into the drawer. Then she picked up a dress that was much too fancy to wear to lie around and watch TV, but then put it back. “This is crazy. I can’t figure out what to wear.”

“The silk pajamas,” I said quickly. “What I’ve got on is close to pajamas too.”

“It is, right?” She took the green slips of fabric back out of the drawer, then discreetly took out a pair of matching panties and a bra.

“Orla, a bra with pajamas?” I shook my head. “You don’t have to wear that. If it makes you feel any better, I don’t have any underwear on.”

She erupted in laughter and ran to the bathroom. “You’re so bad.”

I gathered up the dishes and placed them in the hall before going to lie on the bed, grabbing the remote and searching for the perfect movie for us.

I wonder how long she’s going to make me wait.

Orla had to know that tonight would be the night. We were going to be adults lying in a bed together, watching a romantic comedy. That’s what happens when couples do something like that, especially if the chemistry between them was out of this world.

It would almost be unnatural if we didn’t end up having sex at this point.

I found the perfect movie, then got up to fold the blankets back, propping and fluffing the pillows. I grabbed the pitcher of martinis and our glasses, then refilled them and placed them on either side of the bed on the nightstands.

Looking up at the overhead light, I decided it had to go, so I jumped up to turn it off. I only kept on one of the lamps nearest to me.

With the mood set, I picked up my glass and took a drink of the tasty cocktail, waiting for my girl to join me on the bed.
