Before I can talk to her, though, we need to clear the air with Natalia’s dad’s club.

I’m sitting at the table of church and I’m feeling all of the rage packed into my body right now. Mick’s sitting at the end of the table and I can tell he’s scared about what is going to happen to him.

“Let’s begin,” Chase begins the meeting. “First, we need to welcome back Dale back from the dead.”

“Welcome!” All of the brothers chant a little.

“Next, we need to hear what happened at the prison for Mick.”

Mick rolls his neck to stretch it out. “Those boys approached me sayin’ I needed protection and I didn’t know from what until they started fuckin’ with me at the prison.”

“What were they doin’?” Chase asks. He’s making a list about what to do to the club.

“They were tryin’ to give me extra flites and all of that bull shit. They kept tryin’ to get me to go to seg to get me alone. I know they were gonna jump me eventually but I never gave them the opportunity.”

“What did those bastards do?” I ask.

“They jumped me in the chow line and broke my arm. It was nothin’ I have never dealt with before. The part that really fucked me up is when I got out. That night, they wanted it to seem like I was hooked up with them. I didn’t want to be with them.”

We’re all listening to what Mick is saying and my blood is boiling. I feel the bottle of painkillers in my pocket and I take the bottle out. I quickly pop a pill and then roll my own neck.

“Nat’s dad’s club is really a fuckin’ waste,” someone says from the back of the room.

“We’re goin’ to war. I want everyone in this room to know that his club targeted my girl and her twin.”

It kills me a little more than I care to admit that he didn’t refer to Cassie as my girl. She’s still my girl but I need to get her back.

“In the meantime, where do we have Natalia and her son at?” Mick asks. “They are gonna come at her and her son. Especially if she’s runnin’ with our club again. They think she’s part of their property.”

Chase chuckles. “Don’t worry about where Natalia and Maverick are at. Just know that we have that situation down right now.”

“Anything else?” I ask.

I’m eager to go talk to Cassie and get this shit figured out. I’m eager to get this bull shit figured out as fast as I can. The quicker she’s back with me, the better I’m going to feel.

“You’re all dismissed. I need all of the rankin’ brothers to remain here to discuss the attack.”

It isn’t long before all that is left are the ranking members. “I’m so sorry,” I whisper to no one but myself.

I’m feeling guilty about what has happened and I know all of this is my fault. If I wouldn’t have let my dad convince me to marry her, we wouldn’t be in this predicament. I wonder what would have happened between the two clubs if we wouldn’t have got married. We got married to bridge a gap between us, and I’m seeing more of a divide than anything else.

“We’re gonna start our attack ASAP,” Chase fills us on.

All of a sudden, his phone starts to ring and our attention is directed at his phone.

“What do you mean she’s gettin’ a job?” Chase states.

God damn it. Cassie might really be done with me if she’s looking at getting a job. I had been taking care of her this whole time because I wanted to make sure she was protected. If she’s out in the world, there is no telling who could attack her. I paid her rent, her groceries and everything else. I didn’t do it because I wanted to own her.

“Yeah, Dale’s right here.”

I look up at Chase and he shakes his head. “Cassie wants you to come see her at the safe house.”

“Fuck.”

I get off the chair and walk over to my bike. I know where the safe house is at and I know without a shadow of a doubt this is going to be a fucked up conversation. Is Cassie going to break up with me right now? Is that what’s going to happen?

I pull up to the house and see Colm on the porch with his gun in his hand.
