Chapter Thirteen
Emilio
Something inside of me began to consider the options and the opportunity Alto would have if we left and I knew where he would be heading. It wouldn’t have taken a genius to figure it out.
“We have to turn around,” I order. “I need to be with her.”
Miklos doesn’t reply and turns the vehicle around. We make it back up the driveway just as I see the light flickering in her home. There is someone who keeps walking through the light area.
“What the fuck?” I demand.
Miklos throws the car into park and we are both running up to the main door. I kick it open since it is locked and see Alto against Larysa. He’s trying to kill her with his bare hands.
“You mother fucker!” I yell at him and yank him off of her. He falls to the ground with a thud.
“I told that dirty little slut all about you.”
I kick him in the gut. “Did that help you get her to fall to her knees for you? She doesn’t want you!”
“You think she wants you? You think she wants a mobster who is nothing? She doesn’t want you.”
He told her I was in the mob? This guy is slick.
“Brother, I got this,” Miklos informs me from behind. “You need to be with Larysa.”
I look back at my girl who is on the floor with her hand over her throat and her eyes are wide. She looks scared out of her mind.
I don’t wait another second. I grab my gun and fire it at Alto’s head.
Miklos is quick to pull him out of the room while I rush over to Larysa. She’s screaming but grabs onto me to hold me tightly against her.
“It’s okay, baby. Nothing is going to happen to you again,” I hush her.
She’s grappling with my shirt to hold me to her and then she lets out the most god-awful cry. “This couldn’t be true. This couldn’t be happening to me!”
“Baby, it’s over with. You’re safe!”
“You killed a man in front of me,” she retorts with malice. “You legit just killed my bodyguard in front of me.”
I’m trying to shake her shoulders to get her to look at me in the eyes. When she finally does, she calms slightly. “He would have done this for years if I didn’t kill him. He would have stalked you for years. Baby, you didn’t do anything wrong.”
She nods slightly. “I, I don’t know what to say.”
I half-smirk at her. “Larysa, there is nothing you can say. I need you to go upstairs and shut the door so I can take care of Alto’s body. Can you do that?”
Larysa is crying heavier than before. “He’s dead?”
I want to laugh at her, but I don’t. She’s struggling with everything and I kiss her lightly on the lips.
“What happens now?”
“We get to know each other and see where this goes,” I reply.
Larysa looks back at Alto and then at me. “Thank you for saving me.”
