Baros is a crime family I’ve wanted to whack since the beginning. These assholes are trying to steal our fenced properties in which we secured the only way we know how.
We took it.
“I’m having the guys bring me in something.”
Octavious’ peanut allergy is something we all take seriously. If anyone finds out his allergy to peanuts, they could poison his food and he can die quickly without a trace of who did it. We’ve been very careful on what foods we bring for him and what he can eat.
“Want me to bring you something?” I’m shifting my Maseratti to speed on my way to the hospital.
He chuffs. “Yeah, I want you to stop by Nikoli’s house and get my money.”
I take a deep breath and agree before he gets too pissed off. Octavious sometimes forgets I’m not his lacky. I’m the underboss and have worked hard to do the bigger jobs, not the little ones.
I take a U-Turn in the middle of the road cutting off four cars to go the opposite way to get the money. Nikoli bought a shit ton of black market diamonds we smuggled in from Africa and owes us more money than he probably has right now.
I pull up to his house in the back of the city with my gun tucked into my waistband. The bastard answers the door in a matter of seconds. When he sees me, his eyes widen and he backs up quickly.
“I’m here for the money you owe us,” I don’t bother with introductions. He knows who I am and he knows why I’m here.
“I have five hundred thousand in a bag I was going to bring over today,” the dumb man lies.
I shake my head and walk past him into his home. His home is decorated very nicely as he probably had a decorator come in. The furniture is crisp and clean, but then I see something on the table that catches my eye.
“Where did you coke the from, Nikoli?”
He steps back cautiously to avoid me aiming my gun at him. Too late. I have my gun cocked and ready to fire at him when he throws his hands up.
“Baros sold it to me! He said he could give me whatever I wanted and needed if I brought him the diamonds I bought from you,” Nikoli confesses.
Nikoli is a typical Greek man with his gold chain around his neck, the olive skin color and the brown eyes a majority of us have. The problem with Nikoli is he got too big for his own good and was making decisions with the wrong people. He got stupid.
“How much did you buy it for?” I’m looking at the baggy on the table which still has a couple of bumps worth of cocaine.
“Uh, I don’t remember.”
My temper and my impatience is starting to rise. “You traded some of the diamonds for this, didn’t you?”
He nods. “I’m so sorry, Milo. I swear! I didn’t mean for it get this far.”
“You know how Octavious is with our runners doing drugs, don’t you?”
Octavious hates his crew members doing drugs. He thinks it makes them look sloppy and weak when we are needing to be strong.
I flip the table over with the cocaine flying in the air. Nikoli is quick to try and save it giving me the perfect angle to just finish him off. I aim and fire.
Nikoli lands face down in the cocaine he got from our rival.
Octavious is going to fucking flip out when he hears about this.
Chapter Three
Isidora
Getting off the plane I feel like I’m doing the walk of shame. This time I have a Ph.D. in Criminology and have become well known. Plus, I no longer have the acne I had when I was graduating high school, and I’m almost certain my heart has hardened to Milo.
Milo…
Inevitably, I’m going to be seeing him at one point and I have no idea what to say to him. What I could possibly say to someone who broke my heart all of those years ago? Nothing.
