“Wow!”
Chapter Eight
Milo
“So, what’s going on with you and Isidora?” Octavious demands in my face in front of everyone.
“Nothing, dude. I’m not going to do anything.” I’m lying through my teeth. I want her again and again more than I could say.
“Don’t fuck with her again, man. I’ll put you in the trunk before you can blink your eye. I want her to move back here. I don’t want her to get involved with you and then her get all confused again because of lust.”
I want to argue that what Isidora and I shared was lust and something much bigger than lust. We shared passion and love.
“I hear ya. Don’t worry.”
“Uh, boss,” Miklos mumbles from the side of the hallway. “We got a situation.”
“Let’s meet on the roof in ten minutes!” Octavious replies before going back into the room to grab his cell phone and coffee cup.
When I see the coffee cup, I remember that I missed out on a coffee this morning. I was in too big of a hurry to go see Isidora, I completely forgot.
With the exception of a couple of our men who stayed with Varya and Isidora, we are all piled into the elevator and ready to go up to the roof. The roof is one of the best places to meet because there aren’t any cameras and there is less of a chance of people seeing us up there.
Once we’re up there, all of us go off to the side of the roof. The bitter cold air hits me in the face like a ton of bricks. I forgot how chilly it was today since I was so focused on Isidora.
Miklos takes his phone out and hits play.
“Hey, this is an interested party who wants to hire your guy for a clean up job. We are needing a nice young therapist to be taken care of. The job pays twenty-five large. Call me back.”
What the actual fuck!
“Are they talking about Isidora?” I bark with my fists bunched up.
“My records show me that Isidora saw Jamar Alexander today at the prison.”
“You have got to be kidding me?” Octavious shouts with his phone clutched in his hand.
“Did you know that’s who she was meeting today?” I demand to the boss.
“No! Fuck you for thinking I would allow her to see that psychopath.”
“What am I missing?” Emilio asks.
“Jamar Alexander is the freak who killed his whole family and is now serving a life sentence at the prison,” Octavious informs him. “He’s also the asshole who has tried to take contracts out on a few guards, lawyers and now my sister. The guy is crazy.”
Taking a deep breath, I walk off to the side with my hands on my head to calm down. I hate knowing that there is something out there that could hurt Isidora all over again. This time it is something I can’t prevent. If I deny the contract, Jamar will find someone else to take up the contract.
“Has he made any calls to anyone else?” I ask.
Miklos is typing into the little computer he brings everywhere with him quickly. “Looks like he made contact with a couple of others. No one has picked up the contract yet.”
“Do they know it’s my sister and if they touch her, I will end their fucking life?”
“Boss, Isidora has been out of the game for a while. A lot of people have forgotten you had a sister,” Emilio chimes in like a dumbass.
Octavious shakes his head and bares his teeth to Emilio. “Put it out there so everyone knows!”
“I want Isidora to come back to my place with me,” I murmur to Octavious. “You’ll be at the hospital with Varya and won’t be able to take care of Isidora. I’ll be able to make sure she’s safe.”
