“Hey. I just wanted to let you know I was on my way to you. I just came from the doctor with Trinity, and she’s indeed pregnant.” She sighed.
“Damn. What you need me to do?” I didn’t care what it was. I was always ready and willing to have my girl’s back, no matter what.
“You do enough. I can handle this.” She tried to sound convincing, but I knew better.
“How far are you?” I asked.
“About ten minutes out.”
“Aight. Hurry up and get here.” I hung up the phone and went into the kitchen to get a beer. I was still trying to wrap my head around this nigga being all up in my face and I didn’t know it. I was pissed at myself for slipping like that. I even contemplated breaking up with Mylani, but I scratched that thought as fast as I had it. This shit had nothing to do with her, and I wasn’t about to make it.
“Pops, can we go out to eat tonight?” Jerz came downstairs and sat at the counter in front of me.
“You got money, nigga?”
“Why you tryna play me? That’s what you for.”
“I hear you. Where you wanna go?” I asked since I knew his lil’ ass already had this shit planned out.
“Let’s ask Lani when she gets here. I’m down to go wherever she wants to.” His bad ass had the nerve to laugh and take off running with me behind him right when Mylani was walking through the door.
“Lani, save me!” Jerz ran straight to Mylani and hid behind her.
“What did I just walk into?”
“Me about to beat his ass.” I walked up to my girl and kissed her lips.
“You two stay playing. I think it’s cute,” she cooed.
“Yeah, whatever. Stay the fuck away from my girl, nigga.” I bucked at my son. “Bae, where you wanna eat? Jerz said it’s up to you.”
“It really doesn’t matter. I’m tired, so I’ma take a nap before we go wherever.”
“Aight, cool. I’ma come with you. Jerz, don’t knock on my damn door. Hop on the game with MJ or something.” I gave my son a death glare and dared him to try me. He thought it was funny when he did that shit. Badass was real deal hating on me.
“Nobody thinking about y’all.” He waved his hand and went back to the game.
“Come on. Let’s go get this nap.”

We ended up at this Mexican spot downtown. Mylani said she had a taste for some real tacos, so here we were.
“What you gone do about your sister? She gone keep the baby? Where the lil’ nigga at that knocked her up?” I took a swig of my Corona while Mylani and Jerz munched on the chips and salsa that were at the table.
“She said she wanted to keep it, so that means I’ll have to work extra hard to take care of the both of them.” She sighed.
“Where the fuck her baby daddy at?”
“He’s around, I guess. She said he would help, but I’m not banking on that. His ass is nineteen and has a baby on the way with my sixteen-year-old sister. I know he traps, but that’s about it.” When she said he trapped, that got my attention.
“What’s his name?”
“Dantè.”
“You gotta be kidding me right now. Don’t worry about it. I got it.” I knew that lil’ nigga. He worked in one of my traps, so I knew he would have the capability of taking care of his seed. If I had anything to do with it, he was gonna do just that. My girl wasn’t about to run herself down taking care of his responsibilities.
“You know him?” she inquired.
