“I’ll be on the rez with Callen, giving them the heads-up. Please take another bodyguard with you. Take Uriel at least to help Ivan and Gryphen out.”

She sighed.

Ethan moved closer, and he took her face in his hands so they could stare into each other’s eyes.

“Please. For me, Lyzee.”

This time, she didn’t argue.

“Alert Uriel to get here. I’ll take him out with me, so we’re safe. You just get us cleared to work on the reservation. If we’re lucky, it’s some outsiders using it as a dumping ground again.”

Why did she get the feeling they wouldn’t get that lucky? The hairs on her arms were standing up, and she wasn’t cold.

She was wary.

Now, she had to fake it until she could make it.

“Don’t worry,” she said. “I have this under control.”

Oh, well, if he’d heard that once, he’d heard it a million times, and they never had it under control.

If anything, quite the opposite.

When in Rome…

Play games on the rez.

It looked like they were diving in.

AGAIN.

Chapter Six

FBI West

Damascus

Almost Noon

When she arrived to the building, this was a first for Rayna. Since she was new at being Chief of Reservation Police, she had the minimal contact with the FBI building, even though it wasn’t all that far from the rez.

Oh, but she’d heard stories.

Lots.

Of.

Them.

What she knew, historically, was the FBI and Natives didn’t work well with each other.

Incidents that went down had told her that.

What she also knew was that her homeland, the reservation, had been infiltrated, to use a harsh word, with outsiders as of late.

Granted, they were married into the tribe, but still...it made some of the Natives very uncomfortable, while others seemed to not mind at all.

She wasn’t sure how she felt about that.
