They’d be targets non-freaking stop.
Oh, he really hoped that Elizabeth talked some goddamn sense into his father. Home was a lot safer than being here.
For.
Sure.
“She can do it, but it’s not going to be as easy as we hope. She’s working with only one thing. We need DNA or we need something forensically to tie to the victims.”
Well, Callen’s fingers and toes were crossed.
Only, now, this posed a very curious question for the two men spelunking in the cave with the backup agents and techs.
“Do you want us to figure out where the other opening is? Because there is no way in hell that they carried Elizabeth through the way we came in. There’s an eight-foot drop. They had to get her here another way. I’m looking at the data Ivan downloaded. It’s sketchy as to where the other entrance is, but I can find it.”
He didn’t hesitate.
“No. Just get out of there. Alive. For all we know, they are in that part of the cave, setting up a trap. Bail on that. If Elizabeth needs us to find it later, as in tomorrow in the daylight, we will.”
Well, that was the best idea they’ve heard all day. They wanted out of there.
ASAP.
“Are we going to show Elizabeth the message?” Callen asked.
Blackhawk knew they had no choice. If they kept anything from her, it could put her behind the killers, and that was just as bad as being a target of the killers.
“Yes. I’ll put them on her server. Just focus and be safe.”
Oh, well, that was the plan. Callen was born here. He didn’t plan on dying here anytime soon. He wasn’t attached to the reservation like Timothy and Wyler had been and were.
“See you soon, EJ.”
With that, Callen hung up, and glanced over at Gene. He’d been close enough to him that there was no way he didn’t hear bits and pieces of the conversation—even with the phone not on speaker.
“Our profiler is twitchy. We need to get out of here before it gets ugly.”
Yeah, he was good with that.
If Ethan thought the shit was coming, Gene wanted to make sure he, Callen, and all of the techs here wereNOWHEREnear this freak-fest when it hit.
“Everyone, get what you can as quickly as you can. Doctor Blackhawk thinks this is a red zone, and we are in danger. We need to move.”
That put everyone into overdrive.
The techs were going quickly, and placing the older skulls in bags, along with the newest ones.
It was going to make one hell of a forensic mess for Tony and Jaxon, but the living had to come first on this one or end up in the body bags too.
It appeared that they were getting the hell out of there, collectively.
The Hollow’swrath was theLASTthing they needed now.
Well, next to someone’s death.
