“I am here.” Her voice is so soft that we barely hear it. Baron goes to the last cell, his favorite to put Alley in, pulling out the keys but stops.
“You going to open it,” Nik asks.
“I would if the lock wasn’t jammed with another key broken into it!”
“What?” I run over and sure enough there is a key broken into the lock. “Shadow, the vault.”
“Yes sir,” he responds, already running towards it.
“Eagle, take him to the morgue,” I command, pointing at the dead body.
“Yes sir.” He starts cutting off the restraints and throws the kid’s body over his shoulder and leaves.
“Piper, I need you to get to the back corner,” Baron instructs.
“Okay,” she sniffs.
Shadow comes back within minutes with the door ram. It takes us a few good blows to get the door to cave in. It may be solid metal but it’s thankfully, rusted and extremely old so it isn’t too hard to break down. We never remodelled down here. No need to.
Once we get in, Piper runs and glues herself to Nik. She is repeating how sorry she is. I can tell Nik wants to knock her out, but he holds back and tries to comfort herinstead. Again odd, he has only done that a few times but not with any of the girls-just me and the absolute headache of a woman.
In the hallway, we get a good look at her. One eye is completely swollen shut, her lip is busted, she has bruises scattering throughout her mediterranean skin, specifically on her neck though. Her midnight colored hair is a tangled mess. She is just in a bralette. No underwear and bruises on her inner thighs. No blood though so that might be a somewhat good sign. A few nails are broken off and her fingers are bleeding. She looks straight out of a domestic violence picture.
“What happened,” Baron asks calmly, letting her sit in the dead guy’s chair.
“We were… I tried... They…” She is hyperventilating and her eyes are bouncy around wildly.
“Try to breathe.” Baron kneels in front of her and caresses her cheek.
“They came for her in the showers.” She starts to breathe semi-normal. “I heard her scream, and I went to see, but it was too late. They were already knocking her out. Then… then... They grabbed me and dragged us down here. I tried to fight them off, but they were strong. Then she… she... oh God.” She starts to sob.
“Deep breath.”
“She tried to attack them to get them off of me, and she got one of their walkies. She slid it to me before I was knocked out and… I wanted to save her.”
“Save who?” Gunner gets in her face.
“They’re going to kill her.” She leans into Baron.
“Who is going to kill who,” Nik demands.
She needs to calm down and explain. There is no need for these dramatics.
“Carson, Melanie, that green mask guy, and the yellow mask guy. They’re going to kill Alley!” She starts to say more but it’s inaudible with how hard she is crying.
“Fuck,” Baron mumbles standing up.
“The fucking walkie. He knows Piper got us to help her,” Nik says looking at her hand.
“No, he doesn’t,” Eagle informs, coming down the hall.
“What do you mean,” I ask, pushing off the wall.
“The walkie wasn’t one he had access to. She took it from Mick’s body.”
He demonstrates by talking into the one that is only for us, and his voice comes through the one still in Piper’s grasp. Alley may piss me off beyond belief, but she is smart. I had to give her some information so she wouldn’t keep attacking me. I let her know that we had two different ones and were going to monitor Carson because I didn’t trust her. That was a lie because we had already seen all the proof by then.
“Carson, where are you,” Gunner asks into the other walkie.
