“Sorta, but I need to talk to you,” he whispers into my hair.

Archer rolls up the window, grabs his bag, and gets out of the car.

While I’m attached to him like a spider monkey, his strong arm wraps under my bottom, and I hold on to his neck until we get into the house.

When I try to struggle, he won’t let go, and he drops his stuff in the living room before coming into my office and turning off my monitors. Once we’re in the bedroom, he lets go of me and sets me down.

“Pizza?” I’ve only seen him like this once before. He masks well, even if I can’t. He’s the solid rock in the relationship.

He nods and strips down to his boxers. I order as he gets into the shower before following suit.

Archer stands under the stream of water with his head down, his muscles ‌tense, and I get into the shower with him.

We switch spots for a minute so I can get wet and wash his hair and rub body wash over his skin.

Archer runs his hands over my back when I turn, and washes me before turning off the water. I had a hard day, but something is going on with him that’s much bigger than whatever I dealt with.

After we towel off, he throws me one of his baggy shirts, and I slip it on to run and get the pizza, and when I return, he’s sitting in bed with two glasses of juice.

Biting into a slice, I blow out my cheeks until it’s less hot—you’d think I'd learn.

“You doughnut, let it cool before you stuff melting cheese into your precious mouth,” he tells me with a smirk.

“Ready to talk yet?” I chug some juice before returning to my slice.

He blows on it before taking a bite. His green bluish eyes stare over my shoulder for a few minutes as he chews.

“How much of a failure would I be if I quit my job?”

I thought it was going to be life-changing news, which had to do with us, but I know it’s important to him. Archer always wants to provide for me, and while it's appreciated, I’m more than capable of taking care of both of us.

Finishing the slice, I reach for his leg and rub my hand over his skin. “If that’s what you want, do it.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, your worth isn’t based on some job, or what you can provide. You need to enjoy the life you lead. What’s the fucking point if you hate going every day? They would replace you in a minute, and Archer, youareirreplaceable.”

I grab another slice and eat it while the wheels turn in his head.

“You’re amazing. I don’t deserve you.” He looks at the slice in his hand and finishes it before closing the box and putting it on the nightstand.

“Baby, you deserve the world. You are perfect the way you are. Whatever you want to do, then do it.” I stretch out on the bed, and he flops beside me.

“I don’t know what I want. I was focused on what this would do to us.”

Rolling onto my side, I reach for his hand before holding it. “We can do this. I've got us covered. Find what you love and do it. What’s the point of leading a life you hate?”

“I don’t hate everything, just the job.” He smirks and pulls his hand out of mine before tucking my hair behind my ear that’s fallen out of my bun.

Archer trails his fingertips over my jaw and to my neck before lowering his lips to mine. I kiss him back, and he continues gripping me closer. His tongue dances over mine, and I reach for his hair to tug on.

Pulling back from me, his intense gaze warms me inside.

“Do you want to cum tonight?” I ask, needing this moment of normalcy tonight.

He strokes my cheek. “Of course, Goddess, if you’ll allow it.”

“Don’t make me regret my choices.” I reach for him again, and he kisses me with his hands in my hair.
