She grins. “Oh, how lovely! Yes, I’m sure ‘gift’ is fine.” She takes the parcel, then nods to the plate of small sugar cookies on the counter before putting the box on the scale. “Now, when I turn my back, I expect a few of those to disappear.”
“Thank you,” I say with a laugh, helping myself to two. They melt on my tongue – the bakers around here really do get the butter and sugar balance perfect.
She calculates the postage, and I pay her before turning to leave. During the short walk back to my car, three more people tell me “Good morning.” I notice that, although their expressions are open and friendly enough, they’re all kind of…checking me out. I suppose I understand that. After all, I was seen at the diner yesterday withone of those Wolfe boys.
I blush to the roots of my hair while getting into the car, thinking that one of the pillars of their community was between my legs last night. The physicality of our relationship is maybe…not normal? I always thought people had to get to know each other before they hopped into bed together.
We, on the other hand, have gotten to know each other mentally and physically at the same pace. It feels fast, but also right.
The way Kingston touches me so possessively lights up my soul. So does the feeling of my body wanting to belong to his. The need to connect with him so deeply.
My fingers tremble so much I can barely get the key into the starter. Wow. If I’m this rattled now, what’s going to happen when we actually have sex?
I sputter a laugh. Yes, I’m thinking about that already, after having only known him a few days. It’s right, I know it’s right. Heck, I was practically ready from the start: he’s the one being a gentleman and wanting us to take our time. It’s totally adorable, and speaks to his character.
My sisters are going to freak out when they find out who I’m dating. Probably Dad as well. He’s really into that tech stuff and I’m sure he’s heard of Wolfe Security.
This time I only change my dress twice after getting dinner started. It’s my turn to host, even though it’s not my house. That feels a bit odd.
Kingston arrives at the door five minutes early, holding a large, tasteful bouquet of pink and white roses. Three little golden pinecones are tucked in among the blooms.
“I had to ask them to rifle through the Christmas stuff for those,” he says as I giggle. “Nothing like your arrangements, but I wanted them to be forest-y.”
“Thank you, these are stunning.”
I poke around the kitchen for a vase, and Kingston cheekily lifts the lid of a pot. “Should I stir this?”
“If you mean can you sneak a taste, sure, go ahead.”
He “helps” me in the kitchen by getting in my way, which is adorable. As my hip grazes the front of his pants, a shudder runs through him. The man is hard as stone.
He’s pretending that he’s interested in our dinner, but he’s actually hungry for me. A shiver runs through me at the thought of what might happen tonight.
Just as we’re about to sit down at the table, I step close enough so the front of our bodies are touching as I slide my hands around the back of his neck. “In case I forget to mention it later, I’m on the pill.”
I barely stifle my moan when I feel his thick cock shifting in his pants as he grabs me firmly. His hips scoop, firmly rubbing us together once…twice… Then he takes my shoulders and gently shoves me away.
“Temptress,” he scowls, his eyes dancing.
Dinner is lovely, and although it feels like we’re both trying not to rush, it’s obvious we’re headed for the bedroom again.
Kingston and I are simply two puzzle pieces that were destined to find each other. Every single touch causes my heart to flutter. My knees, where we brush under the table. My wrist,as he trails his fingers along my skin while telling a hilarious story of how his brother Kai once stopped two businessmen from fighting by telling a super inappropriate joke at the meeting.
Before I can even offer him coffee or dessert, Kingston slides his hand into the back of my hair, pulling us together for a slow, deep kiss.
“Dinner was perfect,” he murmurs against my lips. “You, however, are even more perfect.”
My throat tightens as I feel his warm palm dipping into the front of my dress and inside my bra to caress my breast, flicking his thumb across the nipple. I love that he’s not subtle but is direct about what he wants. It makes things much easier, since I don’t know how to read signals or play games.
“Do you have room for dessert?” I ask.
He reaches out and lifts me into his lap. “What I’d really like is the taste of you on my lips.” Kingston chuckles as a deep shudder runs through me. “I didn’t shock and offend you with that, did I?”
“Not in the least.” I can feel myself blushing. “I actually like how direct you are.”
His forehead tips toward mine. “Baby, I couldn’t imagine being any other way. I never expected to find someone like you. A heat like this. I figure all we can do now is run with it, right?”
I’m already nodding and standing to take his hand and lead him to the guest room, where I’ve been staying. It’s lovely, but Kingston doesn’t seem interested in the decor or the beautiful view of the forest out the huge window when we get there.
