Her self-satisfied smirk is just too much for me to bear.

“I’ve got to go.Excuse me.”

“You know, I was just with Shae.Apparently, she and Ethanspent the night together.”

And there it is.He got over me pretty quickly. But… it’swhat I asked for, isn’t it?That doesn’t make it hurt any less.I guess Helenawas right all along—Shaeiswhat he needs.I try to fight the tearsstinging my lids.

“I’ve already done what you wanted me to do.You don’t haveto rub it in.”

As I move past her, she grabs my hand.“As long as—”

She stops in the middle of her sentence, staring at me inshock.

“Helena?Are you okay?”

She doesn’t look too good, like she just might pass out infront of me.Her eyes move over my body, up and down in disbelief, then shedrops my hand as if it burned her.I hope it did.

“I’m fine.”

She turns and stumbles out the door, obviously shaken.Whoput a bee in her bonnet?

***Ethan***

98… 99… 100.1… 2….

“You’ve already done like five hundred of those. You gonnastop anytime today?”Charlie asks.

“Six hundred and seven… and why should I?Eight….”

Working out is the only way I can relieve some of thisfrustration. These last six weeks have been the longest of my fucking life.Ican’t tell the last time I had a decent night’s sleep. There’s been no Casey,no sex, and on top of that, I’ve had to put up with Shae. Not to mention mymother’s constant nagging about a wedding. If she thinks I’m going to marryShae, she has another think coming; Casey is the only woman I’m marrying.I’dsell my soul to have her back. She invades my thoughts every minute of everyday.I think about her smile, her laugh…the way her eyes twinkle when sheteases me.Hell, I even miss the way she argues with me.Then there’s the cutelittle way she says “huh” when she’s thinking about something. And her body… Holyhell, I miss her body.I miss her smell; her soft, silky skin; her perfect, full breasts and their pretty pink nipples.I miss the way she screams my namewhen she comes.Fuck… 28… 29… 30.

“Sam called.”

I drop the barbell in the holder and sit up.Ignoring thetwo ladies who were obviously enjoying the show, I give Charlie my undividedattention. He throws me a towel and the women in the corner giggle as I beginwiping down my sweaty chest.

“Casey’s got a shadow,” he continues.

“What?”

“Seems to be one of Stone’s.He follows her around, makesnotes.”

“They’re documenting her movements. He’s planning something.Fuck!I thought he would leave her alone since….”

“Ethan, anyone who saw you two together could tell.Shewon’t be safe until we get rid of him.”

“You’re right.”

A shadow.I wonder if he’s the one I’ve been sensing allalong.Has he been doing something to mask himself? Is that even possible?

“What do you want to do about the shadow?”

“Nothing yet. When he stops, that’s when we need to worry.Put someone on him.I want to know where he goes when he leaves her.He has toreport back to Stone… and check him out.”

“Got it.”

***Casey***

Ugh… I’m dying.I’m sure of it.I’m dying. This isn’t cuteanymore.Throwing up all day isnotcute.I’m still not that big.Ithought people would have figured it out by now, but a few baggy T-shirts andempire-waist tops, and no one seems to notice. They probably just think I’vegained a little weight. My boobs do look awesome, though, so score for thegirls.
