“Fuck!” Dax shouted. “Paul and Levi are dead too. They were attacked by some newborns, and now they’re burning,” he expressed as his eyes flashed gold. “The newborns ambushed my brothers. They could’ve taken a few of them but not an army by themselves.”

“Grab this bitch off the ground and strap him up with the poisonous flora. We’ll get what we need from his punk ass. Send sun care packages to Paul and Levi’s families. After that, I’ll meet you all in the dungeon.Thatis going to die by my hands. In the meantime, I’m going home to try and make this transition as easy as I can for her.”

I raced away from the woods and to my house. Creek withered and screamed in pain as I placed her in my bed. I zoomed around and collected the things I needed. I sliced open two thick green foliage and squeezed the chlorophyll down her throat. Her body calmed down, allowing me enough time toplace fresh aloe vera gel on her bite. Once I was done, I removed her shoes, slid against the headboard, placed her head on my lap, and rubbed her hair.

Eventually, she stopped crying in pain and slipped into a fitful sleep. My heart ached because now the dynamics of our relationship were about to change. I wanted to explain things my way and take my time, but thanks to her punk-ass father, the process was sped up. After a few hours had gone by with me catering to her and her bite, Creek woke up. I released a deep sigh because now I had to tell her she was transitioning into a sun vampire, and her father was here on the island.

Here goes nothing.

Chapter 5

Creek Waters

When my body finally decided to move and wake up, things seemed so different. My senses seemed to be on overload. I opened my eyes as I lay in Pryde’s bed and looked around his room. My eyes felt like I was watching my life in super high-definition mode. I sat up quickly like a serial killer from an eighties film, and before I knew it, I had run into his dresser. Then I ran into his window and got tangled in his curtains. I moved faster than the speed of lightning around his room until I looked up and saw his room was a complete mess. I was at a loss for words.

How in the hell am I able to move with such speed?

“Ah… I see you’re awake, beautiful,” Pryde said and sped over to me with a glass of green juice in his hand.

“You can move just as fast as me? What the hell is going on, babe?” I jumped backward from his closeness and almost ended up in his closet, but he swiftly grabbed my wrist so I wouldn't fall.

“First, I need you to drink this juice while I talk. I need you to listen fully and with an open heart. Can you do that for me, beautiful?” he pleaded.

I nodded and took the glass of juice as we sat on his bed. Cautiously, I took a sip of the green juice and was stunned at how delicious it was. The flavors married together were amazing, and before I knew it, I’d gulped down the entire glass.

“Damn, that was tasty.” I set down my glass and stretched. It seemed like I'd digested a glass of magic. With a grin on my face, I turned to Pryde. “I feel so free and energetic. It’s almost like I can accomplish anything!” I exclaimed. I super-speed walked to the mirror and knocked his hygiene products over as I admired my features. My eyes flashed gold, and a golden shimmer danced along my dark and white patches of skin. It was an absolute sight to see. My high cheekbones were more defined. The round shape of my eyes was more accented. As the green juice coursed through my body, you could see the green lines in my skin. I wouldn’t say the drink made me more beautiful, but it enhanced the beauty I was blessed with.

“I’m glad you liked it, and there is more downstairs, but I need you to come over here and focus, sweetness,” he declared. I sped over to him, and instead of landing next to him, I landed on top of him. He laughed as we sat up. “I promise, once I get what I need to say out of the way, we’re going to work on that, beautiful.”

“Alright. The floor is yours, love.”

“Okay. There’s no easy way to say it, so I’m going to just come right out and say it. You are now a sun vampire, beautiful. Two nights ago, after the set you DJed, you were attacked and bitten by ablood-drinkingvampire. I made it just in time to kill that newborn vampire. If I hadn’t, you’d be either dead or running around killing humans for blood, and that I can’t allow,” he stated.

Did he just say I was a sun vampire?

I knew he was too good to be true. Pryde was the total package, but now I see. Under all that fineness was a bottle of crazy. “Welp, there it is. I see our time together has ended. You are a great guy, Pryde, but all this vampire talk is just crazy. It's not true,” I replied and stood from the bed.

“Then explain why you can move so fast. You are a sun vampire, Creek.” Pryde abruptly stood and pulled me to his chest. He buried his face in my neck. His tongue gently traced up and down my collarbone, causing my clit to thump and, oddly, my mouth to water and tingle. The more he kissed my neck, the hotter my body grew for more of him until the strangest thing happened. My canine teeth begin to protrude.

Huh? Are my teeth growing? Did they really grow, or is this just a sensation?

Pryde continued to get me hot and bothered, motivating my teeth to stretch and my senses to kick into overdrive. I closed my eyes, unsure of what was going on with me. With my eyes closed, I used the tip of my tongue to make sure I didn't imagine the motion. My eyes shot open at the feel of how my teeth had elongated, and they were sharp as hell.

Pryde's large hands trapped my face in place as he kissed me sloppily. His tongue moved in sync with mine as he pressed his hard body closer to me. Pryde released my mouth long enough for his tongue to trail over my new teeth. Oh, hell. I needed to call them what they were. Fangs—my ass now had fangs.

“Yes. You now have fangs. Care to explain that?” Pryde expressed.

I was completely taken aback. “You can read my thoughts?”

“Yours only. You’re worried about me reading your mind when I just told you that you're a sun vampire now?”

“I'm curious about that as well. It's all a lot to take in. How is any of this possible?” I questioned, wiggling out of his embraceand taking a seat on his bed. “Is the story about you being born to two poor farmers and a lawyer even true?”

“Everything I told you is the truth except my age. I’m not thirty-six but one hundred and thirty-six. I was born in 1888, and in 1924, I was turned into a sun vampire. It’s a hundred years later, and I finally found my person. I never had any intentions of turning you—just planned to confess my lifestyle and allow you to make the decision. Life is nice, but with you, it could be wonderful. This is another reason why I keep expressing that you are not abloodthirstyvampire but asunvampire.”

“You make it seem like there’s a difference between vampires or something. I’ve watched many different vampire TV shows and movies, and you all do the same thing. You all drink blood from human’s necks,” I stated simply.

He laughed like my statement was a joke for a stand-up comedy special.
