“What the hell are you doing?”

“I told you I saw her. I know it’s her, but not because I actually.” He stopped, throwing me a look as he hit the button to pull up the categories.

“Busty babes?”

“Don’t fucking judge me, man. The last few months have been off for me. I think I saw this…weeks ago. It’s been a while.” He started to scroll, not making it down half the page before he pointed to one of the trending videos. “There! Right fucking there. That’s her, right?”

My lips parted as I moved in. The similarity had my heart racing as I clicked on the small icon. When the video came up, rage like I’d never felt before boiled throughout my blood. It wasn’t just any porn video. Kody was unconscious. She wasn’t bruised or scarred, and she appeared to be sleeping. But she wasn’t; she was drugged. I knew that blanket under her. It was the same one David wrapped around himself when he sat at his computer after the shows. This video…it happened before the torture. Before…

I stopped the video as fingers began unbuttoning her blouse.

“Does he rape her?”

“What?” Rush looked at the screen, jerking his face back to me.

“Look at her arms. Her chest. There’s not a mark on her. It’s because this was probably from the first day she was taken; when she was captive you fucking dumbass. Does she wake up? Was she raped?” I pushed to my feet, leaning closer to him as I tried to contain the explosion that was about to come. “What the fuck are you doing watching that shit anyway? Does. She. Wake?”

Rush straightened, emotions flickering over his face as he glanced at Kody. “I don’t…know. I only got a few minutes in before…You’ve got to be kidding me. I didn’t know what was happening. I swear I didn’t know.”

“Now you do. Of all the fucking videos, and of all the people in the God damn world, you find her.” I slammed my laptop shut, heading for the balcony.

“Jase?” I slowed at Kody’s voice but continued before I lost it completely. She didn’t deserve this. She couldn’t take one more thing piled on top of the rest. Especially not with the condition of her heart. It was weak. Healing. I had to delete that video.I would delete it.Fuck this operation that was destroying women. How many more were victims? How many more had they defiled and destroyed every way imaginable? This wasn’t right. It couldn’t continue.

I leaned on the balcony, lowering my head and closing my eyes as my fingers dug into the concrete. I didn’t bother to open them when the door sounded.

“Jase? What happened? Are you okay? Did you learn something new?

How did I tell her? Should I? I knew nothing other than what I saw. Rush didn’t even know how far it went. I was going to have to watch that video, and the thought made me physically ill. Death. It called to me more than ever. Someone had to pay, and not by serving life behind bars.

Her hand settled on my bicep, waiting. I opened my eyes, forcing a grin. “Everything’s okay. Just a setback. Come here.”

I pulled her into my arms, loving the way she immediately melted into me. The last thing I wanted was for her to hurt an ounce more. I had to figure out how to end this once and for all.

“Jase?” Rian peeked his head out. “We’re going to take off and give you some time. You want me to…take care of it?”

“Nah. I’ll do it. Be safe.”

“Will do. Call me later. We need to talk about this.”

At my nod, the door shut. Not once did Kody move. She stayed buried in my chest, her arms around me. Her eyes were closed as the sun beat down on us. The day was nice. It wasn’t too hot or too windy. It was perfect, just like her.

“I think I could stay like this forever.” She tilted her head back to look at me. “I’m going to make you dinner tonight. A special dinner. You’re always taking care of me. Tonight, it’s my turn.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you cook. Do you know how?”

She laughed. “I can make a few things. I used to bake all the time. Not that I was really any good at it.”

“Tell me about it inside. You shouldn’t be out here. Neither of us should. Someone could still be watching.”

The smile was forced as she nodded and let me lead her to the door. She knew something was wrong and that it was bad. A part of me wanted the truth to die right here. Right between me, Rian, and Rush. No one would ever know, right?

Wrong.

The video was trending. We’d be lucky if it wasn’t on the nightly news. If I kept this from her and she found out, we were done for. She’d never trust me again, even if I did delete it. I couldn’t bear that any more than I could fathom telling her she’d been assaulted, and the bastard had recorded it for all to see.
