“I’ve been busy,” my voice is taut, lightly laced with the venom needed to talk to him.
“Ah, I see. Well, I would like to see you. I need to talk to you about a few things.” My stomach rolls with the coffee sitting in it. I glance at the bathroom door and walk away so Revna can’t hear anything.
“Why can’t you say it over the phone,” I spit. My ears pound as blood rushes through them. It’s all I can hear as I hold the phone away to catch my breath. The last thing I want is to show him how angry and enraged I am just hearing his voice. I won’t let him know he gets to me. This is what he does to people. He gets them close enough so he can see the light fade from your eyes as he sucks your soul from your body.
“Because, Lachlan, I would like to speak face-to-face. It’s important. I’ll meet you at the club on the Upper East Side. I’ll let them know you’re coming.”
“I have to work,” I grit out.
“That’s why I’m asking you to meet me in an hour. If you had a respectable job, you would have already been there, seeing as it’s ten in the morning. So let me ask again, do you have to work in an hour?”
I roll my neck around and force air into my lungs. “I’ll see you in an hour.”
“Good,” he says and hangs up. I stare at the black screen and squeeze. My knuckles turn white, and I’ll crack the screen if I squeeze harder.
“Hey, who was that on the phone?” Revna asks, her voice a balm to my blaze of anger.
I look at her, and her expression drops. Concern is all over her face. “Uh, nothing. I have to go; an appointment got moved up.” She frowns. I know she knows I’m not telling her everything, but I need to mentally prepare to see the devil’s spawn. I can’t have that conversation, not right now.
“Oh, ok. I can wait to watch,” she says softly.
I put my cup in the sink. My need to touch her wins out over the blood boiling within my veins, but the aggression comes through as I grip her throat and yank her to me. I smash my lips to hers with a messy and gripping kiss. She gives it back just as good, and I feel her hands slide up my naked chest to grip my shoulders. I wrap her hair around my hand to tilt her head back and then walk her backward to the wall. She gasps, and I bite her again. Her towel drops from her body, and she reaches for me, sensing the electric change in the air. I know I need to go. Time is short, and if I’m late, my father will make me pay for it. But I need her more.
“Lach—“ she breathes. I cut her off, thrusting my tongue back into her mouth. I grab her knee, and she locks it around my back, hopping up. My hips jolt against her center, ripping a moan from her throat.
She reaches around my waist to push my boxers down. I grip her hands, pulling them away and locking her wrists together above her head, rendering her immobile. She whines and leans forward to catch my mouth.
I dip my head down and drag my tongue over her chest and around the edge of her jaw. Her nipples pebble against my skin, and I lean further into her. With only one hand to work with, I slip between us, and she mewls into my mouth.
“Let me hear it, love. Let me hear that pretty voice,” I rumble. She shivers and sobs again with the climbing pleasure.
“Lachlan,” she moans.
“That’s it, baby. That’s it,” I murmur against her lips while her hips jerk against me.
“Please,” she begs.
I stop, and her fawn-colored eyes burst open and hold me captive. “Please, what, Revna? What do you want,” I groan, leaning my forehead against hers.
She pants, trying to pull out of my grip. I squeeze her wrists tighter. “You,” she demands.
“You have me, love.” I thrust into her, squeezing her neck a little tighter. Her back arches, and her body trembles in my hands. Her expression is scrunched in barely restrained desire, and I take her in like always. I want her tattooed in my mind. Electricity zings through us, urging me forward as she melts against the wall.
The tickle in my spine makes my knees buckle. I thrust harder and release her wrists. Her hands scramble for purchase on my skin as they dig into my back. It urges me forward as we ravish each other, body and soul. “Lachlan, I—“
“That’s it, Revna. Look at you giving in.” Her eyes open as she looks down between us. That’s all it takes. She trembles and makes a strangled noise as she soars into the clouds. Her pleasure brings me to mine, and my heart jumps out of my throat as I fly with her.
My vision goes white for a second, and it’s all I can do to keep my knees locked. Revna tucks her nose into my shoulder while she tries to catch her breath. I carry her to bed and lay down with her.
She tosses her leg over my hips and hugs me as our breathing steadies. “What was that?” she asks.
I kiss her temple over and over again. “I needed you,” I say against her skin.
She tilts her head up, parting my lips from her skin. Her knowing eyes stare into me. “I love you,” I whisper to her.
“You have me, Lachlan. I love you, too.” I can’t look her in the eyes anymore. I hug her tightly. I know I should get up. I know I need to run to the subway, but I don’t know what I’m walking into with my dad. Damn the consequences. I have a feeling the moment I sit in the same room with him, everything will change.
