“It is.”

“Do you ever miss traveling?” She’d asked the question many times in the past year, but he always reassured her that she was enough.

“We travel every night, my darling dreamer. There’s nothing to miss. I could be anywhere, as long as we are together.”

“Then let’s be in our bed.”

She planted a kiss on his left nipple, eliciting another deep, reverberating purr. He walked her backward, leading her to the lush bed.

“Lay with me, wife.”

She did. Just as she would every night from now on. Day and night, there was nowhere else she’d rather be than his strong, soft, loving arms, which he wrapped around her with the same reverent care that she expected of him. Cool tendrils of shadow wrapped their way around her ankles, slithering up her calves and gently parting her thighs as he rose onto his haunches. Addison reached for her husband, longing to feel the warmth of his silky, velvet-padded abdomen, to bunch fistfuls of his fur into each hand, to claim his mouth with hers; but her body didn’t move more than a lurch.

She whimpered in reproach, but Traeyr’s shadows whirled and whipped around her arms and legs while he loomed above, staring down with a ridiculously pleased grin. She lavished in the dark sparkle of his eye, a rush of lust bursting through her every synapse. Splayed out below him, she writhed in tune with his shadowy appendages, trying to steal his control.

“You are mine,” he whispered as though talking to himself.

“How many more ways can we bind ourselves together?”

“Careful, dear dreamer. You don’t know what I’m willing to do.” His dark words, undoubtedly true, were less threatening combined with the deep love in his eyes, which were alight with their orange glow.

“Then show me.”
