“I think I like being ruined by you,” I reply.

He kisses me again, a silent confirmation as he stills inside of me. I feel the pulse of his cock between my legs, his chest rising and falling, but he doesn’t move. He just keeps kissing me as if I’m the oxygen he needs.

Little does he know, he’s been mine since the start.

When he finally pulls away, he lifts, slowly pulling out of me. “Don’t move,” he says, leaping off the bed and exiting the room. He emerges seconds later with a wet washcloth he found in mybathroom and places it between my legs. “Your first time is going to make you sore. You may even see a little bit of blood, but it’s okay.”

I just sit there and stare at his eyes, and the way he’s taking care of me. I thought I would be mildly embarrassed by an older, more experienced man taking this from me. I don’t feel an ounce of that.

I feel wanted.

I feel cared for.

“Thank you.”

He shakes his head. “You never have to thank me for taking care of you. I love doing it.”

I sit up and feel the soreness creep in between my legs. Settling on the edge of the bed, I take his hand in mine. “I like you taking care of me.”

“Good.” He looks from me to the door, pain written all over his face. “I fucking hate the idea of having to leave you tonight.” His hands grip his hair as if he’s frustrated with himself. “But I have Mitch and Ty back at the house, and I have to be there for Sage.”

I stand, cupping his face. “Dallas, I get it.”

He closes his eyes. “I don’t want you thinking otherwise, honey.”

“I won’t.”

“You promise?”

I nod.

We both move in silence as we get dressed. I wait for the negative thoughts to creep into my brain, the voice telling me that I won’t hear from him again. But they don’t come. They remain dormant and hushed, and I can’t help but smile at the thought.

Once he’s ready to go, he pulls me into him, wrapping his arms tightly around my body, holding me so tightly that a part of me wonders if he’s going to end up staying.

“Good night, honey,” he says against my hair, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.

I walk him to the front door, turning the front porch light on for him. Just as he steps down the last step onto the walkway, he turns around.

“I tossed the package that was delivered to my house somewhere on your couch. Don’t you dare open it without me.” He winks and turns around, walking across the grass to his house.

I fall asleep with a new soreness between my legs, and my mind consumed with thoughts of Dallas.

CHAPTER 32

POPPY BARLOW, ARE YOU IN LOVE?

Poppy

The smell of freshly baked muffins fills my senses the moment I step foot into Batter Up. Lily had texted me that she was going to have my favorite chocolate chip muffins ready for me today, and to stop by when I left the school.

“It smells so good in here,” I say, and Lily snaps her head toward me and smiles widely.

“Between the new batch of muffins today, and Blair trying some random recipe she found online for glazed donut cookies, it really does smell sweeter than usual.”

“Did you say glazed donut cookies?”

Blair emerges from the kitchen as if she’s heard me. “Yep! You have to try them, Poppy. One of my sister’s new clients told her about it and she immediately sent it right over to me.”
