“Yes, Thomas,” she finally says. “I’ll go with you as your date.”

I wrap my arms around her waist and my lips crash into hers at the same time a thought crosses my mind.

I guess I have to fire the nanny.

Which means I need a new plan in place.

Because I’m so fucking in love with Peyton.

The past week has been nothing short of a fairytale. Ever since we got home from the beach house, there has been a change in Thomas. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the guy is swoony as fuck. He has been since the day I met him. Heknowshow to sweep a woman off her feet. But we’ve gotten… closer? I’m not even sure how to classify what this is.

Are we dating? Officially?

Are we just sleeping together?

He’s been deep inside me a minimum of twice a day since being home, and never going a day withouthaving dessert. That’s what he calls it. He’s constantly telling me that he’s got a sweet tooth and the taste of me is the only thing that can satisfy it.

However, we haven’t spoken about whatthisis between us. I’m anxious to ask. This weekend is the gala, though. And I made the decision a couple of days ago that I would see what happens this weekend and then finally bring up the elephant in the room.

“Margaritas?” Kali asks, cutting my thoughts and forgetting we’re at Old Jose for our taco Tuesday dinner meet up.

“Yes,” Avery and I say in unison.

We spend the next half hour making small talk. We chat about how nice it was to get away for the weekend and how great it was to see Gigi so happy. Kali tells us about her job and how it’s stressing her out and she might consider a change in careers. To what? She has no idea. It’s finally my turn to tell them what's going on, despite not having a damn clue what’s going on myself.

“Soo,” I draw out with a sigh. “I have an event this weekend.” I bounce my eyes between my two friends sitting across the table from me. Their faces are masked with confusion. “A charity event,” I add. Avery’s eyebrows pinch together, and Kali tips her head to the side. Both remain silent as they wait for me to continue. “With Thomas.” I pinch my lips together after his name leaves my mouth. I reach for my margarita to take a long sip.

“Okay?” Kali questions.

“Spill, bitch,” Avery says as she sits back in her chair and crosses her arms over her chest.

“Well,” I start, but pause because I’m unsure of how to proceed. “Thomas asked me to go with him,” I say over the brim of my drink glass. My eyes bounce between both of them. “As his date.”

They both look from me to each other. Silence stretches over the table and I’m not sure how to take it.

“Can you two say something?” I plea.

“What do you expect us to say?” Kali says with a small chuckle.

“We were waiting for this,” Avery adds.

“What?” I stammer.

“Girl, we saw how Daddy was looking at you at the beach house.” Avery laughs. “Like he couldn’t wait to get you upstairs and fuck you into next year.”

“He… no… I mean.” My words fumble as I try to defend myself.

“Don’t bother trying to hide it,” Kali says. “The man is crazy about you. That much is obvious.” She rolls her eyes.

“And we’ve noticed a change in you,” Avery cuts in. “You have been straight up glowing the last couple of weeks. Only one thing can make you glow the way you have been glowing.” She wiggles her eyebrows and I roll my eyes.

“You’re annoying.” I laugh at her.

“But I’m not wrong.” She shrugs her shoulders. “So, tell us more.”

“I am not going into details about my sex life,” I snort.

“At least there's a sex life for you to even get into,” Kali laughs. “We don’t want to know the details, but we want to know the details. If you’re picking up what I’m putting down.”
