She trembled in front of me, her breath still uneven, and I pressed a kiss to the back of her neck before slowly pulling out.For a long moment, neither of us moved. Then she turned, her eyes dark and satisfied, a slow smile curving her lips.

“Wow,” she breathed.

I chuckled, still catching my breath. “Yeah.”

Wowdidn’t even begin to cover it.

We stayed like that for at least a minute, both of us trying to catch our breath. Finally, I reached for the paper towels, cleaning us both up with gentle strokes.

“Come here,” I murmured, pulling her against my chest.

She melted into me, her head resting on my shoulder, and my chest tightened with an unfamiliar ache—something that went far beyond physical satisfaction.

“Cold?” I asked, noticing the goosebumps on her arms.

She nodded, and I reached for my shirt, still crumpled on the floor where she’d yanked it off me earlier. I helped her slip it on, the fabric dwarfing her curvy frame. She looked incredible in it—better than any woman had a right to look in an oversized shirt.

I pulled on my underwear and jeans, leaving the jeans unbuttoned. “Better?” I asked.

“Much.” She smiled up at me, her cheeks still flushed. “Though I think we forgot about dessert.”

I glanced at the bowl of apple slices, now sitting abandoned on the counter next to the can of whipped cream I’d emptied earlier. “We did get a little distracted.”

“Just a little,” she said with a laugh that made my chest tighten.

God, I was falling hard. Harder than I’d ever fallen for anyone, and it terrified me. Six months of messages, phone calls, getting to know her mind and her heart. And now this. Her body, her passion, the way she looked at me like I was something special.

“We could eat the apples,” I suggested, trying to keep my voice casual. “Then maybe move this party to my bedroom?”

Her eyes lit up. “Round two?”

“If you’re up for it.” I cupped her face, my thumb brushing across her cheek. “I’ve got six months of fantasies to make up for.”

She stood on her tiptoes and kissed me, soft and sweet. “Lead the way, Lumberjack47.”

As I reached for the bowl of apples, one thought kept circling through my mind. I was completely, utterly gone for this woman. The question was whether she felt the same way, or if I was just setting myself up for heartbreak.

But looking at her now, wearing my shirt with that smile on her face, I decided it was a risk worth taking

Some things were worth the fall.

My heart was racing as I stood in a long row of vendors near the entrance to the corn maze. I was surrounded by women who’d become my friends this week. Vendors who sold gourmet popcorn and fresh produce and spices and jewelry and s’mores kits.

Determination and great ideas weren’t the only things we had in common. We were all falling for a local. That meant if everything went well, we’d be living here in this town together.

I smiled to myself as I imagined girls’ nights and play dates when we had kids. Not to mention group dates with our hot-as-heck mountain men.

The future was looking bright.

“It’s definitely been an…interesting week,” Bobbi said.

She stood in front of all of us, mountain men on either side. With our two perfectly straight lines, a casual observer would swear we were about to launch into a game of Red Rover.

“I know our locals have enjoyed having all of you here,” she continued. “A few of you are going to stick around, which couldn’t make me happier.”
