“I’m confused, too,” he admits, surprising me with his candor.

“Oh?”

“I can’t understand why you would forgive me so quickly after everything I’ve done. You’ve every right to hate me.”

“I don’t hate you, just severely dislike your leadership style.” I say slowly. “But I also understand how difficult this situation is for you. How difficult it must be to be responsible for the lives of the whole squad.”

I take a deep breath. “The last few days have been… difficult. I’m still confused about what I’m even doing here, and I’m changing.”

Knox nods. “I’ll help with that from now on, I promise. Like I said weeks ago, our squad doesn’t give up easily.”

I smile, pleased with his commitment. “I’m glad. That means a lot. Thank you.”

We lapse into silence as I watch the flames dance across the dry branches.

My mind is spinning.

Everything is changing so fast. I can’t keep up.

Chapter Fifty-Eight

Halley

“Cannonball!”

A flash of exposed flesh streaks from the top of the waterfall.

An almighty splash explodes from the water.

The intensity between Knox and I pops like a balloon, and I jump away from him like I’ve been caught doing something naughty.

Blaze’s head emerges from the inky depths after a moment, a giant grin matching the brightness in his pale eyes. The blood on his face washes away, red rivers running down his neck and into the water below.

Blaze climbs out of the water, his body glistening in the sunlight, and my attention is diverted once again.

My heart races as I watch him approach us, his muscles rippling with every step. He’s wearing tight boxers that have plastered to his body and are clearly outlining his cock.

I’m under attack.

My hormones are being battered from multiple angles.

Is this my punishment for using my Omega Command? See how much masculine energy can the Omega take before she loses her mind? Surely they learned a lesson when Shade’s tongue ring put me into a break-through heat that almost got us all killed.

I’m a stiff breeze away from getting on my knees and begging for a knot, and I’m not even in heat anymore.

“See something you like, Sparkles?” Blaze asks, his voice deep and playful. I track a droplet as it rolls over his pec and down the divots of his carved abs. My tongue flicks over my lip unconsciously. “Maybe something you’d like to lick?”

I suck in my tongue with a squeak.

He shakes his hair like a dog, spraying water over us and making the fire sizzle from the droplets.

“Hey, cut it out,” Knox calls lightly from his reclined position. It lacks the usual bite, and Blaze quirks his head.

Blaze’s eyes flicker between Knox and I, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “Am I interrupting something?”

I think my blush might become permanent as I feel my face heat even further as I quickly avert my gaze.

“N-no, not at all!” I answer a little too quickly.
