I refuse to think about how similar Alpha Novikov and my Alpha sound. Their voices are similar, but Novikov's has a cocky lilt. Their scents are similar too, but I've already decided bergamot is a common enough Alpha scent for it to merely be a coincidence.
It's all just a coincidence and I don't want to dwell on it.
An envelope is waiting for me when I arrive back in my dorm room, and a smile blooms over my cheeks before I can stop it.
Baby Girl,
I hear congratulations are in order. You've made it to the chess tournament final after soundly beating the competition. Do you know how incredible you are? I'm not sure you do.
You're the first Omega to take part in an inter-academy final ever. For any activity. You're making history.
I'm proud of you. I'll be even prouder when I'm the lucky Alpha whose bite is on your neck.
A full body blush rolls over my skin as I remember what it felt like having his lips on me. What would it feel like when he licks my mating gland? When his teeth sink into it?
Your final opponent, Alpha Novikov, will be tough to beat. He's the son of the president of Novikov Corp. His father was a hard man, ruthless, and raised his son to take no prisoners. Don't go easy on him.
My mind stutters, remembering Novikov's earlier threat. 'Don't go easy.'
Nope. Another coincidence. I refuse. Absolutely refuse to lump them together as the same person. Nope. No.
You're a warrior, a queen, a force to be reckoned with.
I eagerly await celebrating the outcome of the match with you for our Valentine's Day dinner date.
The same words again. Dammit.
With love,
Your Alpha
The coincidences are becoming too much.
First the scent.
Then his voice.
And now, the Alpha and Novikov said the same words within an hour of each other.
My head is spinning. I can't deal with these thoughts right now. I have to focus on the chess final.
But, as I lay in bed, sleep eluding me, my thoughts swirl around Alpha Novikov, the letter, and my mysterious Alpha.
There's no way Alpha Novikov has been courting me. He's not that thoughtful and considerate. Every time we've interacted, Alpha Novikov has been cold, calculating, and infuriatingly smug. He doesn't like me, commenting on my overly competitive nature and goading me into frustrating arguments. He's never shown even a hint of interest in me as an Omega… right?
No, I'm reading too much into it.
I need sleep.
Except my suspicions slither past my defiant waking mind and into my subconscious.
In my dreams, Alpha Novikov's smirking lips kiss me in the Floral Arrangement classroom.

There is pink and red fru-fru stuff everywhere. Hanging from the ceiling, the walls, even the damn doorways.
Valentine's Day is coming.
