I paid another visit to your family last weekend. Your brothers miss you and your father is still upset he hurt you. You’re very loved, Natalia. I wanted to reassure them I will only add to that affection.
I also conducted a little business during my visit. My Omega will want to visit her loving family, so I purchased a cottage in her hometown.
What do you think, Long Shot? Am I a gambler or an investor?
All my love,
Your Alpha
Dear Alpha of Insanity,
You’re crazy!
You bought a whole damn house in my hometown for me?
You don’t even know if I’ll agree to be your Omega!

"Did he buy me a house?!" I shout into the phone, and then cringe as other Omegas turn to look at me with gossip-hunger etched into their features.
We're not usually allowed phone calls during term time, but I've thrown every rule out the window since returning.
What are they going to do? Kick me out? Prevent me from courting potential Alpha mates? Already done.
I lean into the common room wall and quietly repeat my question.
"Hello to you too, ladybug," my dad drawls. The distant rumble of my brothers talking echoes down the line, and my heart squeezes with homesickness. In all the years I've been away at the academy, the ache for home has never gotten better.
"Did he come visit the family again?"
"Yeah. And we're even more certain this is the right decision for your future."
I bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from launching into a very well rehearsed rant.
Instead, I exhale and ask my next question. "He said you negotiated a grace period before our first official date. What date did you set?"
Dad sighs and I hear his feet scuff against the kitchen linoleum. "February fourteenth."
I nod, and then freeze.
"February fourteenth. Are you insane? That's Valentine's Day!"
I hear his smirk. "You'll thank me in the future for picking such a romantic day to meet your mate."
I shudder. I can't think of romance, not after my stupid feelings got me into the mess in the Floral Arrangement classroom.
"It's like you don't know me at all!"
I want to gag.
I loathe Valentine's Day.
The Omega Academy takes the event seriously, whipping the lonely Omegas into a romance-starved frenzy.
