His lips find mine, the kiss slow and sweet. It devolves into a heated mess of teeth, lips, and tongue.
When we pull apart, his cock is softening inside of me, and I feel like my heart is slowing down as pleasure is slowly replaced by reality. A beautiful reality, one I welcome.
“I should call the cops,” I mutter.
He throws his head back and laughs before kissing me softly. “I’m not going to apologize for doing what I needed to do. I want to be able to get to you at any time, Carson. You’re mine,” his voice is rough and leaves no room for discussion or second guessing.
Being Jared’s is better than I imagined when I had a crush on him all those years ago. I sink into the feeling and push away the niggle of guilt trying to surface and ruin the blissful feeling of being with him.
I’ll tell him everything about Dave. Soon.
Just not tonight.
CHAPTER 10
JARED
I lean into Carson and whisper, “Have I told you how fucking gorgeous you are?”
She looks up at me, the lights in the Range hitting her earrings and the little sparkly bits in her makeup and lighting her up. “Once or twice,” she murmurs softly.
With a grin, I shrug. “I’ll tell you again, I’m sure.” I kiss her temple because I can’t help myself. “I’m glad you’re letting me show you off,” I tease her.
The laughter in her brown eyes when she looks up at me makes everything worth it. “Showing me off, huh?” Her question is coated in sass, and I love it.
I look her over, loving the way the tank top she’s wearing molds to her body and shows off the top of her tits. Then the oversized cardigan she has on shows off her curves, especially the ones made by her painted-on jeans, while making her lookcozy.
As glad as I am that we’re out, for the first time as a couple, I would have been just as happy staying home with her and curling up on the couch together.
But we made promises and here we are.
I’ve never loathed being out for the night with my friends more. It’s not just the Burns brothers and their women out with us tonight. Morgan and Walker are here as well. The only good thing is that Morgan having to watch me touch and kiss Carson is a little payback for the months I’ve had to watch Walker with my sister and not punch him in the face. I can tell Morgan wants to gag every time I kiss Carson or whisper in her ear.
It’s hilarious.
But then when I look toward Noel, Fletcher, and Huxley they’re killing me with their eyes while trying not to look like they’re plotting murder with a look. It would be funnier if I wasn’t the one their glares are directed at. But, then again, can I really blame them?
“How has it been working at Big Sky?” Sunshine asks Carson. “Every time I drive by, I’ve thought about going in, but then I’d chicken out.”
Carson grins wide at Sunshine as Huxley lets out fake as hell gasp and presses his hand to his chest. “You want to get a tattoo? You rebel,” he teases her, and she sticks her tongue out at him.
“I’m very wild, I’ll have you know,” Sunshine shoots back at him, mischief and merriment shining in her eyes.
“If you ever want to come in, I’d be happy to walk you through it. We can talk about design ideas, and I can show you my portfolio.”
Sunshine gets a thoughtful look on her face before nodding slowly. “I think I’ll take you up on that. I’ve wanted to get something to represent the animals I work with but could never really figure out what it would look like. You’d do a much better job of taking an idea and turning it into a tattoo.”
“You know,” Delaney jumps into the conversation, “I’ve thought about getting a tattoo as well. A memorial for my parents or something involving horses, maybe both combined.”
All three women look toward Eden who has a huge smile on her face. She runs her hand over her large baby bump and nods. “Once I have this little one, I’m in. I’d love to get something to represent the kids. Maybe their birth flowers?” She squeals slightly, “We can make it a girl’s day out kind of thing.”
Fletcher groans and runs a hand over his face. He levels Carson with a glare, the accusation in his tone devoid of any real heat, “You’re a bad influence.”
Carson holds up her hands in surrender, “I just got a job, how am I influencing anything?”
The look on her face tells a completely different story. She’s not sorry in the least. I take a swig of the beer I’ve been nursing since we arrived to cover up the smile wanting to break free. Noel narrows his eyes at me which tells me I wasn’t as slick as I was hoping for.
When the girls look toward Morgan, she shakes her head. “No way,” she warns, “you’re not getting me involved in this tattoo pact thing you have going on.”
