“Vishu…” she called out as she walked to the door to find the toddler bouncing with joy. She picked the little guy into her arms, planting a series of kisses on his chubby cheeks. “What are you doing here all by yourself?”

She looked in the direction his little arm pointed and saw Ashok was on the beach with Vaish. “Why didn’t you go to the beach?”

Isha asked the nanny why Vishruth was not taken to the beach and that’s when she was informed that he had pulled on his twin’s hair and that he was grounded by Ashok. She looked at the little man’s guilty look and her heart started to swell at the adorable sight.

She planted a kiss again on his cheek. “Now I know why you came to find me.”

Isha asked the nanny to take a break and she decided to take the little guy to the beach. How could Ashok be so brutal with a toddler?

A few minutes later, she walked down the path to the beach, hand in hand with the toddler. She could hear Vaish’s excited squeals as her uncle dipped her in the warm water. Shetook in the beautiful surroundings until her eyes fell on the tall man on the beach.

Her heart started to race and as if she had no control over her body, her feet picked up their pace, her eyes on him, eager for him to look at her. When she was a few feet away, he looked up and her breath hitched. Something sizzled in his eyes before he looked down at the toddler running with her.

“Look who decided to show up,” Ashok laughed and added, “and he brought reinforcements?”

That made Isha blush. “He feels bad that he pulled his sister’s hair.” She ran her hand on the little boy’s head and said, “You have to say sorry now.”

With those words, the kids ran to play with the beach toys that were laid a few feet away from the water on the sand.

“He came to get me because you grounded him.” She smiled, almost feeling proud.

Her eyes locked with his, catching that dangerous flicker of hunger she had glimpsed before, but this time it blazed like an inferno. Time suspended, electric tension crackled between them, before he made her body crash into his with an intensity she had not felt before.

His lips claimed hers in raw desperation, a kiss that spoke of unleashed desires and sleepless nights spent thinking of that moment. She melted against him, every rational thought scattered like leaves in a hurricane.

Why fight what every bit of her craved?

Her pulse thundered wildly as he deepened the kiss, his hands tangling in her hair, pulling her closer as if he couldn’t bear even an inch of separation. She could feel his need, his restraint finally evaporating as he conquered her mouth. Herheart hammered against her ribs as heat pooled low in her belly, every nerve ending alive with a deep want.

“You two need a real honeymoon,” a female voice cut through their haze.

When they broke apart, both were breathing hard. She saw his eyes burn with an intensity that made her knees turn mushy.

It was Aravinda.

Isha’s cheeks turned red in embarrassment. It wasn’t the first time Aravinda had spied on them and seen them kiss but this time it was different.

Was it because it wasn’t an act? Or was it? Did he see his sister spy on them and that’s why he kissed her.

Her stomach coiled in worry as Ashok scolded his older sister for invading their private beach. She only laughed it off and said, “You guys are free to go to any other island you want to and you won’t get interrupted.”

Aravinda sat next to the kids on the sand and started playing with them. “I won’t mind somemetime with these cuties.” She looked at Isha and Ashok and added, “You need a break from all of this.”

They looked at each other and the air between them was thick with unspoken promises of what could come next. Not just the time they would spend together but the plan they had formulated months back.

That only meant she could go back to San Francisco soon. And why didn’t that excite her?

Isha watched Ashok dock the small boat to the small deck. It was a beautiful evening on the small island where they would be spending some time away from the twins. More like the kids getting used to being with the family.

Just as planned.

There was excitement about their plan coming to fruition but something pulled at her. She took in a deep breath pushing away that feeling, reminding herself it was the best thing for the kids. She would still visit them and they could go to San Francisco when they were old enough.

“You okay?” Ashok’s voice interrupted her thoughts and she looked away when she realized she had been staring blankly in his direction.

She pushed away the unsettling feeling. He didn’t press further and she was glad. He walked past her with their overnight bag and she followed him up the beach. “The cabin is not too far from here.”
