I scrunch my nose, wondering how anyone could drink it without a cup of sugar, and Wes laughs at my face.

“Have I ever told you how cute your nose is?” Wes asks, tracing the appendage lightly with his finger.

“I don’t think anyone has.” I answer honestly.

“Well, baby, I think your nose is fucking adorable.”

“Thank you.” I say, my cheeks heating at the compliment.

Wes boops it gently and then plants a gentle kiss on the tip. “I’ll compliment you all day every day. Any chance I get.”

Chapter 23

Wes

My heart is beating so fast while we wait for our food.

Elli is the only other girl besides Shelby (and of course Robin) that I’ve ever brought here. I love Claudia and I love Ernie, but no one else was ever serious enough to deal with the inevitable interrogation from them.

Shelbydespisedthis place. She said it was ugly and dirty and “too old” for her liking. She said the food was too greasy and that I was probably just trying to make her fat by bringing her here. So when I decided to bring Elli here, I was nervous as fuck. What if she thought the same thing? What if she didn’t like it? What if she thought it was weird that I was friends with Claudia and Ernie?

I should have known that Elli wouldn’t judge this place or me. I see the way she’s enthralled by the smorgasbord of famous people, the eclectic decorations, and the homey atmosphere of the place.

Claudia sets down my usual biscuits and gravy with eggs, and sets a plate of homestyle fried potatoes with a side of homemade ranch for dipping, bacon, and a stack of buttermilk pancakes in front of Elli. “Here you go kids. I have regular maple syrup, but I brought out our famous pecan syrup for you too. We also have fresh strawberry syrup made from Poteet strawberries if you’re interested in that. Let me know if I can get anything else for you kids.”

“Thanks Claudia. This looks great.” Ellis says, grabbing the carafe of pecan syrup.

I watch as Elli meticulously pours the syrup on one section of the pancakes, cuts into the stack with her fork, and takes a bite. Her eyes close and the sweetest little moan sounds from the back of her throat.

“Wes, oh my. This is so good.” She moans again.

Well, now my dick’s half-mast.

“Claudia’s pancakes are the best. I’m not usually a sweet breakfast guy, but even I have to have a pancake fix every once in a while. Try the potatoes in the ranch. They’re to die for.” I take a bite of my own biscuits and gravy and watch as she does what I say.

“Fuck. Me.” Elli groans, taking another bite of potatoes.

Absolutely, baby. You just name the time and place. Hell, I’ll take you into the bathroom and do just that.

“Good?” I ask, and Elli nods enthusiastically, shoveling food into her mouth in a way that might be considered impolite. I find it endearing. It means she’s comfortable around me, that she likes the food, and that she’s not concerned about being judged.

“This is honestly the best breakfast I’ve had in, I don't know, ever. Thank you for bringing me here, Wes.” She says, a drop of syrup dripping down her chin. Before I can think, I bring my thumb up to the sticky drop of liquid and wipe it off, but instead of bringing it to my mouth like I was planning, Elli turns her head and licks it off of my thumb.

I stare, dumbfounded and turned the fuck on. “Sorry. Did you want to try some?” She asks with a flirty smirk.

Instead of answering, I lean in and gently swipe my tongue over her lips. I hum in approval, and relish in her little gasp of surprise.

“Just a taste for now.” I wink, and watch her face turn that shade of pink that drives me crazy. “Ready for part two of our date?” I ask, standing and placing two twenties on the table. Claudia hates that I pay for my meals, but I’m not going to let her feed me for free.

“I thought this was the date?” She asks as she stands and I interlace our fingers.

“This is just part one, baby.” I walk toward the front door, but pause when I hear Claudia call my name.

“Westley Jones you better bring that young lady back here sometime soon, okay? Come during the lunch lull so Ernie can meet her too! Or for family breakfast!”

“Yes ma’am.” I say, tipping my head in agreement, then rushing out of there before she can scold me for paying for our food.

I open Elli’s door and help her get in, then round my side and turn the car on so we aren’t burning up. “Alright baby. The next place I want to take you involves a bit of walking. Are you good with that?”
