Ronny could feel her love as she walked towards him. He believed he knew it the first moment he saw her outside of that chicken joint. Somehow he knew even then she was the one. His biggest regret was that he didn't follow up on her way back then, to protect her from all that rejection and disappointment andpovertyshe had to endure. But within moments she was going to go from one of the poorest women in the country to one of the richest. And he could hardly wait.
But as they walked, Sully began talking to her. He was always giving her advice. It was the nature of their relationship. “You’re about to become one of the most in-demand women in the country when you become Mrs. Ronald Bradshaw,” he whispered to her.
“Yes, that's true,” Brina said with some trepidation.
“Don't change. Ronny loves you just the way you are. And so do we.”
Brina smiled. “Don’t worry. I plan to be who I am.”
“And keep holding his feet to the fire. Just like you made him double those maids’ salaries and set up benefit packages with great retirement plans for them, you keep standing firm with him. That's why he respects you.”
Brina looked at Sully as they made their slow walk to the altar. “I didn't think you used to respect me.”
Sully smiled. “I'm an aging bachelor who let love to pass him by. What do I know?"
Brina grinned as they finally made it there. She stepped up to where Ronny was standing, and Sully handed her off to his brother.
“You've got a precious woman in your hands,” he said to Ronny. “Treat her right.”
“I intend to,” Ronny said as he gladly took Brina's hand.
They faced each other smiling, and waited their turn to say those two magical words that would solidify their union forevermore. A union that began rocky, with all the twists and turns, and all the bad guys either dead or in prison. But they were still standing. Still in love. Still waiting anxiously to say those two words.
And when they finally said I do, and the minister pronounced them husband and wife, they kissed as a married couple for the first time in their lives.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please applaud Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ronald Bradshaw,” the minister proclaimed, and the applause was deafening as Ronny and Brina walked down that aisle together with the joyfulness of two lovestruck teenagers.
On their way to their Paris honeymoon.
