Chapter Eight

It had been the longest week ever. Forest was certain time had somehow warped and slowed down, doubling the number of hours in a day. He wanted to see Quar, wanted to kneel for him and let Quar do all kinds of things to him.

Forest changed his clothes for the fifth time, wishing he had something other than jeans and T-shirts to choose from.

“No, he liked me just finein those.” Forest glared at his reflection. “I don’t need to be anyone but me.”Quar would be proud of me for that.

Forest grabbed his faded Levi’s and a T-shirt with his favorite comic book character on it. He put them on and found socks that matched. “Woot! I can wear my Vans!” Wearing them without socks wasn’t an option for him. He’d get blisters.

Once he was ready, Forest did a quick checkof himself in the mirror. “I look like me, and that was good enough for Quar.”

Forest left the apartment earlier than he needed to. His car had been delivered to his apartment yesterday, the keys left with the manager. Forest walked out to the parking lot after he’d got his keys, and stopped when he saw his car. The rust spots had been fixed and painted over, however that kind of thing was done.It made his car look…not so shitty. And he was certain Quar hadn’t billed him for any body work.

It had been luck that’d had Forest running into Brant on Sunday in the supermarket. Brant had told him about Quar being a mechanic, and Forest had taken advantage of that information. He didn’t think Quar would be mad, but he could have been wrong.

Forest hoped he wasn’t. He’d abided by Quar’sweek-long restriction, not because he thought he needed the time to think, but because he believed Quardid.

Forest purred back at his car when it started up. The engine had never sounded so smooth before. He ran a hand over the dashboard. “Okay, baby. You’ve met my Dom. He’s had his hands all over you.” Forest shivered. “Soon, he’s going to have his hands all over me—and hopefully some otherparts will get involved.”

It took him a few minutes to get his pulse under control. He was excited, and there was only a tiny bit of fear that Quar would decide Forest wasn’t the sub for him.

Rather than show up early, Forest drove around the block a few times. Then he parked his car in the same space it’d crapped out in last week. He checked the time, played a few games on his phone untilhe could go inside and not be too early.

Forest shut off his car and took the keys from his ignition. He got out and a warm feeling spread down his spine.

He turned around as he shut the door and saw Quar standing across the parking lot. “Hi, sir.”

Quar strolled over to him, raking Forest with his gaze, much like Forest was doing to him. “Hello, Forest. Are you happy with your car?”

“Youdid an amazing job, and the rust spots—thank you,” Forest said. “You didn’t have to do that, but I appreciate that you did.” He was on the verge of sounding like a moron, so Forest shut up.

“Gave me a chance to practice my body work. I do much better under the hood than on the body,” Quar explained. “Of vehicles.” He winked and Forest was ready to kneel at his feet.

But Quar gestured at theclub entrance. “Shall we?”

“Are we going to talk?” Forest asked. “Because I want to do that.” So they could get on with their lives, hopefully together.

Quar took him by the elbow. “Yes, we are. John has a room reserved for us. But first—”

Forest gasped as Quar pulled him close and kissed him in two smooth moves. Forest clutched at Quar’s shoulders and pushed up onto his toes, relieved eventhough he’d thought Quar would still want him.

Quar’s kiss had Forest quivering inside and out. He held himself back from rubbing against Quar—he’d wait until Quar told him what to do.

And the idea ofthatmade Forest’s insides quiver even more.

Then everything changed. Forest was grabbed by one shoulder and torn away from Quar. He opened his eyes and saw a flash of Quar’s startled expressionbefore his ass hit the ground with a jarring force. Someone stepped over Forest and threw a punch at Quar. Someone Forest recognized.

“Think you’re better than me,” J.D. slurred.

“Smarter, at least.” Quar huffed as he ducked and spun around to J.D.’s left. “Faster.” He hit J.D. right below his rib cage and followed it up with a kick that sent J.D. down.

Forest scampered backward and got tohis feet at the same time J.D. did.

“Best stop while you’re able to make that decision yourself.” Quar was fast, almost a blur as he executed another duck, punch, kick combination that had J.D. bellowing in rage. He didn’t fall this time but it was a near thing.

“Think you’re hot shit,” J.D. yelled, “I’m gonna show you!”

Quar slapped J.D.’s fist aside and planted his own right on J.D.’s jaw.
