“No, but thanks. I’ve got it.”

“I should probably go, then. You have your speech to work on, and I need to get in touch with my father to see if I can help. They’re probably all worried about me.”

“Thanks for letting me know this time,” Mitchel teased.

“You’re not going to let me live that down, are you?”

“Nope.” Mitchel followed him to the door.

Sinclair turned abruptly. “Um, it was really neat seeing you change into your wolf.”

Mitchel chuckled. “Neat?”

“Amazing. Magnificent. Thanks for looking out for me.” Sinclair’s gaze drifted to the marks he’d left on Mitchel’s wrist.

A smile curled on Mitchel’s lips. “Oh, you like those, huh? I had to go to great lengths to hide them from every other alpha in the territory last night.”

“Oh, really? Great lengths?” Sinclair blinked. “You mean like long sleeves?”

“Yes, I mean long sleeves. But I have long arms. I was paranoid someone would see them the whole time.”

A determined flash of intensity danced in Sinclair’s eyes. Sinclair took his wrist in both hands, brought it to his lips, and planted a soft kiss right over the marks.

Mitchel reined in his surprise. Was Sinclair going to bite him again? Mitchel would let it happen. But the vampire was already drawing back. He released Mitchel’s arm, looking unsure of himself, his eyes wide, gaze prurient.

Mitchel stared at his moistened lips and couldn’t resist. He pressed in for a real kiss, capturing Sinclair’s mouth as a sweet gasp escaped.

Sinclair melted against his chest, warm and eager, his face tipped up for more. Mitchel was glad to give it to him, tugging him in close, tongue teasing the seam of his lips until they parted for him.

Sinclair responded with a soft moan, tasting of sweet cream and coffee. Mitchel could have kissed him all day, but he knew Sinclair was easy to overwhelm. He drew back gently, rubbing hands down his sides to rest on Sinclair’s hips. He gave a gentle squeeze, then let go.

Sinclair’s dazed and happy expression warmed Mitchel’s chest. “Next timeIget to biteyou. It’s only fair.”

Sinclair glowed, his smile holding temptation as he gazed up at Mitchel through twin fans of golden lashes. “Promise?”

“I promise.”

Sinclair

On his wayback to the old church and his cramped little room, Sinclair had plenty of time to replay that kiss in his mind. Until then, he hadn’t been sure if Mitchel returned the attraction he felt.

But now he knew.

That kiss spoke volumes. It said “I want you. I’m into you, even though you’re a vampire. I’m interested.”

The knowledge sent warm flutters to his chest and stomach. A tingle low in his spine. His heart pounded against his ribs.

Seeing his bite marks on Mitchel’s wrist had made his mouth water. Would Mitchel agree to another bite? The first time had been born of necessity. A second would only be indulgent, greedy.

A group of wolves sat at the outdoor picnic tables. Sinclair tipped his head in greeting. A few of them returned the gesture. There were no jeering hostilities anymore, and for that, Sinclair was thankful.

“You’ve been hanging out with Mitchel?” Eleanor called out. She was among the students he tutored. A smart young woman, busy handling double majors.

Shit.This was walk-of-shame territory, wasn’t it? Surely they wouldn’t think…

Eleanor winked.
