And then he pulls out and gets off the bed, leaving me hanging on the edge of an orgasm with a small smirk.
“Next time,” he says, tucking himself away and going to grab his shirt. “I’m not going to be so nice.”
It’s only when he closes the door, and I’m still writhing on the bed, hoping for an orgasm that is never going to come, that I realize I might not be as in control of the situation as I thought I was.
The bastard has the upper hand right now, but I’m going to do everything I can to get it back.
I just have to get out of these fucking handcuffs.
Chapter Thirteen
AIDEN
I closemy bedroom door behind me, leaving Zoe tied to the bed. She needs some time to think about how cooperative she wants to be.
So far, it’s gone better than I thought it would. She at least told me who her supplier is.
Which makes me all the more suspicious of what she’s doing.
Jade stops in front of me with her hands on her hips and a deep scowl on her face. “We need to talk.”
“I don’t have time to talk right now.”
“Because you have Zoe in there chained to the bed?”
Though I try to avoid her by heading down the hall to the stairs and hurrying down them, she follows behind me.
Jade huffs as she gets to the bottom. “You need to listen to me for the first time in your life because right now I think I might be the only one in this family who still gives a shit about you and what you do.”
I stop and turn to face her. “What don’t you people understand about it being none of your business? This is what we do. Things like this are what we’ve always done to survive.”
Jade stands taller, and even though she has to look up at me, it feels like she’s looking down on me. “If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t say anything. But this is hurting Gia, and she’s part of our family. You accepted her as part of our family, even though you don’t like her.”
“No, I don’t like the potential of causing harm to the family that she brings with her.” I go to step around Jade, but she steps right back into my path. I huff. “What?”
“You don’t have to give up on what you’re doing to Zoe—though I think you should, for the sake of Gia and Royce—but you should at least have the decency to do it somewhere they aren’t coming and going from frequently.”
“This is my house.”
“And that’s her sister, no matter what she’s done. Would you turn your back on me?”
I brush by her, my shoulder knocking into hers. “Leave it alone.”
“No.” She grabs my forearm hard. “You could at least see if Zoe is willing to cooperate with you without putting her through whatever the hell it is you’ve been doing. You never know. She might be willing to play along.”
“She’s the head of the Rinaldo family.” I shake off Jade’s hand. “You people look at her and forget she’s a crazy killer who’s been trying to destroy our family.”
“You’re a killer who’s been trying to destroy hers, so maybe you need to take a step back and think about that.” Jade crosses herarms over her chest, and when she does that, she looks so much like our mother it makes me hurt.
Mom was a woman with her issues, but she still had time for her children. She tried to teach us to be better people than our father, but in the end, his teachings won out with me, I guess.
Jade’s bottom lip quivers just a bit. “You haven’t been the same since Noah took you, and it’s only been getting worse.”
“I’m fine.”
“I’m fine, you’re fine, everything is fine, except you have a woman chained to your bed, you’re fighting with Royce, and none of this looks like it’s going to be resolved anytime soon.”
I open the fridge and pull out a bottle of beer, cracking the top off and taking a long swig. “Royce got what was coming to him.”
