That’s twice he’s mentioned something upstairs. “What’s upstairs?”
“Sorry. My apartment. I live on the top floor, one floor above the offices.”
“You live in this building?” I ask incredulously.
“I own the building, Little one. I bought it about a year ago when we outgrew our previous location. Black Blade Protection is the only business in the building. The rest of the floors are apartments. Most of my guys live here. A few live off-site. We keep one floor open in case we need to provide on-site protection for a client. The apartments on the rest of the floors are rented to regular citizens.”
“Oh, so you’re going to put me in an available apartment where he can’t find me?” Why does my chest tighten at my misunderstanding? I thought he was taking me to his own apartment.
Blade cups my face and tips my head back. “June, I’m not putting you in a random empty apartment. You’ll be staying with me. You need help getting around.” He draws in a long breath. “And, honey, let me be honest with you.”
I swallow. There’s no telling what this enigmatic man might say next.
“I can’t continue to pretend I’m not attracted to you and your Little. There are a dozen things I need to explain about that, but they can wait. Right now, you’re dead on your feet. One step at a time. Let’s get you settled first. There’ll be plenty of time later to continue this discussion.”
“My little what?” That’s the second time he’s left the word little hanging in the air as though something was left off.
He gives me a slow smile. “We’ll get back to that, okay?”
“Uh…sure.”

I’m probably botching this. I keep speaking too fast and oversharing. Her head must be spinning. She’s just so irresistible that I can’t keep from spewing out a million different thoughts. I’m getting ahead of myself.
It’s crazy that I keep calling her Little when she doesn’t even know the meaning of the term. I can’t stop myself. If she’s not Little, I’ll eat my shirt. She doesn’t have to understand the words. She doesn’t need to have ever heard of age play. Neither of those things keeps her from being Little.
June brings me to my knees. I haven’t been this attracted to a woman in my life. The main reason I rarely do a double take when I meet someone is because my Little radar is strong. If a woman doesn’t give off vibes of having a Little side, she’s not going to be right for me.
I’m a member of a local club called Surrender. Lots of Littles belong to that club, including one of the owners, Lucy. In all the years I’ve been going, I’ve never met anyone who called to my Daddy side and flipped me inside out like June does.
If I’m wrong about her…
I shudder. I can’t be wrong.
I thread our fingers together possessively and guide her out of my office. As we head down the hallway, I stop at a few open office doors to introduce her to my men.
“You met Mace yesterday,” I tell her when we get to the first door.
Mace rises and comes to us. He smiles. “Good to see you again, June.”
“You, too.”
At the next door, Cannon comes to greet her. “June, this is Cannon. Cannon, June.”
He clasps her good hand loosely and also smiles at her. “Nice to meet you, June.”
She turns her head up to face me. “Does everyone who works here have a name that corresponds to some kind of military armory? Who’s next? Rifle and Shotgun?” she jokes.
Cannon’s eyes twinkle as his body bounces with silent laughter.
I chuckle. “Most of my men were in the military before working for Black Blade Protection. We’re just used to going by our nicknames. There’s a story behind a lot of them.”
Her big green eyes widen. “So, you’re what? Good with a knife?”
