“What happened?” I croak, knowing the answer, but needing to hear it fromthem, my friends, possibly myfuture.
“We went viral,” Missy states, smiling like I’ve never seen her smile before. Smilinghappily.“Likereally, reallyfucking viral.” She pats the vacant seat next to her on the tiny two-seater.
Asher is in the corner chair, the almost fully grown Patrice and Patrick on his lap–apparently ducklings stay small ducklings for averyshort time. He’s continuously nodding, like he’s in some sort of daze.
Ava is still bouncing somewhere in the room.
I hold my breath as I sidle to the spot, heart hammering in my chest as I sit down.
“How viral?” I ask, almost afraid to look at the many screens.
Missy glances my way, biting her bottom-lip. “So viral, it’s not even… I can’t believe it. This morning, Ava finally posted the video from the new song we recorded last month. And it just… It just…” She shakes her head in disbelief.
“How many hits?” I nearly croak, now grabbing the edge of my seat tightly. My eyes flicker to Tyler, who has appeared in the doorway. He’s leaning against the jamb, arms crossed, a smile on his face. A genuine one, I can tell.
“I can’t even tell how many,” Ava explains when she takes a seat next to me on the armrest. “It has over seven million views on TikTok now. Instagram is a close follower at six. Our Facebook page has exploded, and I don’t even know what’s happening on our Youtube and Spotify accounts, because it bugs every time I want to load the stats.”
I stare at her, dumbfounded. “Sevenmillion?”
I swear I feel the fucking blood drain from my face. Seven million people saw me practically humping the microphone stand. I went a bit overboard that time.
“And you know what the best part is?” Missy goes on like I’m not having an aneurysm right over here.
“What is?” I ask, swallowing away the nerves, eyes locked on the ipad that has TikTok open, where the number of views is climbing. And climbing. And climbing.
I put my hand in front of my mouth and shake my head. Holy fucking hell.
“Wolf from 4A has commented. And Mick Heart as well. Also a bunch of other musicians and actors. Christ, even a couple of famous djs.”
I snap my head her way. “You meanWolf,Wolf? Wolf from the biggest goddamn rockband of our time,Wolf?” Holy… I’m not even getting to Mick Heart, because Mick fucking Heart is one of the other biggest artists alive. ButWolf? The band ‘4A’? I freakinglovethat band, have their music on repeat non freakin’ stop.
He’s the violist from that band. And if you find it funny that a rock band has a violinist, think again. The man is a living and breathing musical prodigy.
And 4A… 4A is just… Christ.
“What did he comment?” I finally ask as two warm hands find my shoulders and ground me. I hold onto Ty’s wrist as he stands behind the coach, squeezing it.
Missy pushes an iPad my way, and my eyes lock on the comment from Wolf. And according to the blue mark next to his name, that’sreallyWolf. His comment is liked over a million times already.
Look at this hot shit! We've got competition. Do we have a new opening band already? I don't remember. I'll ask.
“Wow,” Ty mutters, now leaning over my shoulder to watch. “Did you send him a message?”
Ava squeals again, and Missy laughs at her before nodding, the glee pouring off of her. “Yeah. Yeah, I did. 4A wants us to come to Los Angeles, they have an offer they want to discuss.”
My world fucking tilts sideways. They want to meet us? Meetme? My fucking idols? I swear I’m getting dizzy.
“Breathe, Jacie.” The hands on my shoulders tighten and I comply, breathing in deeply, filling myself with precious oxygen, clearing my head. “When do they want to meet?” Tyler asks Missy, always Mr. Practical, that one.
“Tonight,” she answers.
“Tonight!?”I nearly shriek. What the what? I stare in disbelief at my best friend, the shock must be visible on my face.
She starts to laugh. Honest to Godlaugh. “Yeah, dum-dum. Get in the freaking shower and pull yourself together. We’re meeting 4A tonight.”
I stare at the massive oak front door of the enormous house of one of the most influential rock bands of my time.
4 fucking A.
