Callie sat up and caught him by his stem, her grip tight and firm, causing him to go still and grunt as pleasure blasted through him.

Slipping a hand around the back of Urkot’s neck, she coaxed him down with her as she lay back upon the silk, guiding his cock toward her pussy. “I believe there is a hunger we both need satisfied first.”

He should’ve resisted. Should have denied them both this pleasure so he could see to her needs first. Once she was fed, there’d be time…

But he didn’t fight her. Didn’t even try to resist her guidance. He planted his hands on either side of her head to hold himself over her, and once the tip of his stem was against her sex, he knew there was no going back. There was no staving off his desire any longer.

She wrapped her legs around his waist as she scattered kisses over his neck, jaw, and mouth. “I need you.”

“I crave you,” Urkot snarled, pushing his cock deep inside her. He squeezed fistfuls of fluffed silk in his hands as Callie’s pussy closed around him and embraced him, as it welcomed him into her heat, into the heart of her.

And he never wanted to leave.

CHAPTER 25

As Callie finished eatingher dried meat and shadowberries, Urkot harvested more food to supplement his own meal. Threadleaf and a bunch of whiteroots wouldn’t keep his hunger satisfied for long, but he remained unwilling to eat any of the food Callie had brought along. So there he stood, plucking glowworms off the cave ceiling and gathering them on his cupped hand in a wriggling, luminescent pile.

He wasn’t sure what he looked forward to more—basking in the sun’s warmth again or biting into a fresh piece of meat.

His eyes dipped to the worms on his hand.

The meat. Definitely the meat.

Glowworms were flavorful, and he enjoyed the way they burstwhen he bit down on them, but they were like the berries and other plants; they wouldn’t fill him. They were, at best, a distraction from hunger.

Unless he were to eat half his body weight in worms. Not that his mate was interested in witnessing that…

A thought occurred to him, and he chittered softly and glanced at Callie over his shoulder. She stood, lacing her top as she gazed around the cavern, her eyes sparkling with undiminished wonder and appreciation. Preoccupied.

Throwing his head back, he opened his mouth and dumped the glowworms in. He strode back to Callie as he chewed. When she noticed his approach, she turned toward him and smiled, tying a bow at the top of the lacing.

The string was not fine work by any measure, but it was practical, and it had been made by him. He still could not claim to be a weaver, but his mate was wearing his silk. Urkot couldn’t help but feel pride at that.

Some part of him wanted to tear away her clothing even now. Fortunately, that urge was not stronger than his need to move on, to lead his mate to safety.

He swallowed and returned her smile, raising his mandibles and spreading them wide even as he opened his mouth to let the lingering glow from the worms shine through. He’d seen enough of other delvers after eating glowworms to know what it would look like.

Callie’s eyes widened. “Is that… Did you just…”

“It is what you call a bright smile,” he said, lifting his mandibles higher.

She laughed. “Oh my God. That’s funny, but so gross at the same time.”

He let his smile fall and his shoulders slump. “I am gross?”

Stepping closer, she tipped her head back, pressed a finger to his chest, and glared at him playfully. “Don’t you dare turn my words around. You know you’re sexy. The worms are gross.” She gave his chest a light pat and moved away. “And I’m not kissing you until you wash your mouth out.”

Chittering, he bent down to grab the waterskin from her bag and drank to rinse his mouth.

Callie crouched and picked up something from beside her bag. When Urkot lowered the waterskin, she held a large piece of dried meat out to him.

“Eat it,” she commanded.

Urkot shook his head. “No. We must keep that for you.”

“Urkot, it’s the last piece, and I saved it for you. You’re bigger than me, and you need it more than I do.”

“I will get more worms.”
