Jenna looked around her apartment as if she might find a camera somewhere before remembering that she’d shared locations with Chloe before she’d met up with Mark. Just in case she ended up in a ditch somewhere… She shot back a reply agreeing to meet up, since pancakes sounded way better than fish noodles, and then plopped into her bed without even undressing.
Why was she feeling so unsettled? Maybe she was still fired up and needed to masturbate? That usually worked when she couldn’t wind down for bed, but she’d already come twice tonight…
Sighing, Jenna pulled herself out of bed and went into the bathroom. She at least needed to brush her teeth, or she wouldn’t be able to fall asleep. She would hash out her thoughts with Chloe tomorrow. That usually seemed to help.
“He did what?” Chloe’s mouth dropped open, and Jenna instantly shushed her.
“It’s busy in here, keep your voice down!”
Chloe waved her hand dismissively. “People are self-absorbed, Jen. No one cares about your sexcapades with Dr. Billionaire. Right Rach?” She winked at the waitress who had just appeared to refill their coffees, and Jenna put her face in her hands.
“Right. You do you, girl,” Rachel said with a grin, smacking her bubblegum loudly. “Pancakes will be right out!”
They had been regulars at this brunch spot for ages, and it was one of Jenna’s favorite places in the world.
Whenever she walked in, there was an immediate sense of warmth, like a hug from an old friend. The scent of rich coffee and buttery pastries was intoxicating. The walls were an art gallery of sorts, showcasing pieces from local talent, and the Edison bulbs overhead gave off just the right amount of light to make everything feel cozy.
Mismatched chairs that somehow worked together surrounded rugged wood tables, and a splash of greenery hung from the ceiling. Jenna couldn’t help but feel at home.
Stretching her legs out and taking a big sip of coffee, she looked at Chloe. “So what do I do now? It’s pretty weird what he’s into, right?”
“Well, yeah. Of course it’s weird,” Chloe shrugged. “But people are weird. In the grand scheme of kinks, it doesn’t seem so bad. I dated a guy once with a really intense foot fetish. Likeeverythinghad to be done with my feet,” she looked at Jenna meaningfully, as if she was still scarred by the things her feet had seen and done. “I guess it’s just whatever blows your skirt up, you know?”
“Well, that’s the thing,” Jenna said slowly, analyzing her own thoughts as she spoke. “I didn’t hate it that much. I mean, it was weird and different but,” her voice dropped to a whisper, “I came really hard.Twice.”
Chloe looked amused as the waitress dropped off their plates. “Oh, youlikedit, you dirty slut.”
Jenna blushed crimson. “I don’t know, okay! I just know I didn’thateit. It’s not like I’d ever thought about weird doctor stuff before this. But now I kinda… can’t stop thinking about him.”
Chloe didn’t say anything, just took a large bite of her French toast and chewed thoughtfully.
“But anyway, I can’t keep seeing him. That would be ridiculous. He’s super busy and important, and he probably just sees me as a one-night thing. So it was a fun time, but that’s it I’m sure.” Jenna poured syrup over her pancakes. “He did say he wanted to see me again, though…” She shook her head. “But he’s probably just saying that.”
Chloe waited a beat, probably to make sure Jenna wasn’t going to continue the debate with herself. “Listen, don’t stress yourself over it, love. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. New guys join that site every day.”
“Yeah, exactly. It’s not like Ineedto see him again,” Jenna said, trailing off into silence as she distractedly cut her pancakes into way too small of pieces. “I thought he was just going to give me a couple hundred bucks in cash or something, you know, like in a movie, but when I woke up this morning I had an email from the management company telling me my rent was paid for the next three months. I’m not sure how he even managed to make those payments without my login. Just billionaire stuff, I guess. Andthen when I checked my bank account there was a thousand-dollar deposit that came in early this morning. So anyway, I’m set for now…”
Chloe smirked as Jenna trailed off once more. “You’re going to call him, aren’t you?”
Jenna put her fork and knife down with a deep sigh, exasperated with herself. “The orgasms werereallygood.”
CHAPTER 5
Mark felt like a teenage boy in high school hoping the hot cheerleader would notice him. He wasn’t proud of it, but he hadn’t been able to pay attention to this meeting for over an hour now, and he was the one who had called it. That wasn’t a good look.
He watched Scott go over charts outlining the regulatory approval process and all the red tape they’d face at different hospitals, but Mark’s eyes kept flitting to his phone as his co-investor and best friend since med school went through his PowerPoint one monotonous slide after another.
It had been close to a week now since his first date with Jenna, and he was beginning to think one of two things was going on. It was possible that she had gotten what she wanted from him and was ready to move on now that her rent was paid. Or he had pushed her too far, weirded her out. If he had to guess, it was probably the second one. She had definitely given him several judgmental looks that night in his “exam room”.
But he still hoped he would hear from her. The moment he’d met Jenna, he’d known she wasn’t like the other girls he’d metthrough the high-end service he’d signed up for on a particularly lonely night working late at the office a while back.
His tastes were unusually specific, and he hadn’t had time in his schedule for a live-in girlfriend or anything that serious. Most of the girls he’d met through the site had played along with whatever he wanted, many of them even going overboard with what he could definitely tell were fake reactions and orgasms just to earn a higher allowance.
He’d grown bored of those play dates pretty quickly, though. He’d ignored the messages flooding his inbox for several months before Jenna’s had popped up at the ideal time. The business was running smoothly on its own now, and he’d finally hired enough people to do the endless busy work that came with medical sales.
Opening their text exchange in his messaging app, Mark re-read the last few things he’d said to her, over-analyzing it for the hundredth time. He’d checked in on her the morning after their date, asking how she was. Maybe that was too soon? Did she feel he was too needy?
He was starting to think that about himself, honestly. If he’d seen himself obsessing over a girl like this when he was a teenager, he would have definitely kicked his own ass.
