He smirks. “You’re the old flame she decided to rekindle things with.”

What?

“Old flame?” I ask, confused.

“No need to pretend, bro,” Magnus says. “I know you’re her boyfriend.”Boyfriend?“The cat’s out of the bag. I thought she was giving me the brush off, butyourgirlfriend sent me the lovey-dovey photos of the two of you on your last romantic getaway.”

What the actual fuck?

Carefully, I slide my gaze to Kyla’s and stare at her incredulously.

Her big brown eyes look up at me, pleadingly. She even bats her eyelashes, offering a shy smile, looking slightly embarrassed.

She’s the most vulnerable thing in the world right now.

A single brow arches, my mouth twisting in a smile as I relish this situation.

Got it!

Game on!

“What’s your name again?” Magnus asks snapping his fingers together. “Larson? Landon? Lennon?”

“Does it matter?” I counter.

“Yeah, you’re right,” Magnus snorts. “It’s not like you have any weight in this town.”

I’ll let that one slide.

“So, you’re the one she went back to?” Magnus gives me another onceover again. This time, I return the favor.

“Magnus, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Sometimes two people need time apart,” I say, playing along. “But we’re stronger than ever, aren’t we, my little sexy dumpling?”

Kyla shoots daggers at me.

I grin in response.

Yup, I’m laying it on real thick.

“Come on, my sweet cupcake with frosted icing and sprinkles,” I coax. She shoots me aseriouslylook. “Don’t be shy. Tell the world how you feel about me,” I bite off a smile.

She narrows her gaze at me.

I arch my eyebrows expectantly.

“Right,” she says carefully. “Stronger than ever.”

I reach out and brush my knuckles down the side of her cheek.

Damn, her skin is like silk.

I lean into her, aware Magnus and his goons are still our audience.

“Aww, my little sexy dumpling, it warms my heart to hear you say that,” I murmur softly. I grab her hand before she can pull it away, pressing it flat across my chest. “Can you feel it beating for you?” I ask.
