CHAPTER 40
Lochlan
She just saw me.
I’ve had my eyes on Kyla, waiting for the right moment to make my presence known. She looks so sophisticated in her head-to-toe designer look. Then again, when doesn’t she look good?
Harlow texted me to let me know they were on their way, but I’ve been standing here for a while. It took me six months to make this happen. Luckily, everything is going according to plan. She thinks Mom helped my sister score the tickets to Paris Fashion Week, but that’s just part of the ruse. Larkin really came through for me. One of the club members is part of Chanel USA’s executive team. One phone call and he had the tickets. A few more phone calls and my girl was on the list for a few more fashion shows. I wanted this to be a big surprise. Simply suggesting a trip to Paris wouldn’t do. Not to mention she might’ve figured it out. Since she’s been here for three days, there’s no way she could’ve seen this coming.
The expression on her face is priceless.
She still hasn’t figured it all out.
Suddenly, her eyes shift to the left.
Her mouth drops.
Then, her eyes shift to the right.
Her hands go flying up to her mouth.
Now she has the whole story.
My side of the family is present. My parents, Jace and Jagger are all here in Paris. Beckett flew in for the occasion. So did Holt. Of course, Rod is here as well. The O’Keeffe clan is here in full force. Kyla’s paternal grandparents wouldn’t miss this day for the world. Her dad flew in her maternal grandparents from Italy. The O’Keeffe clan along with my cousins and my boys are waiting for us at the Ritz Carlton. In fact, there are so many of us, we practically took over the hotel. It’s going to be a wild long weekend of celebration.
For this big step in my life, I’m accompanied by a small group—Mom, Dad, Kyla’s parents, grandparents and her brothers. It goes without saying, Hayden and Stella are also here. I think they’re more excited than I am.
As I approach my girl, my sister flashes me a warm smile.
I return it.
Here goes everything.
Harlowsteps aside and I focus my attention on Kyla.
“Hey, gorgeous,” I say, grabbing her hands into mine.
“Loki?”
“Of course it’s me. Were you expecting another boyfriend?” I tease.
“I––I don’t understand,” she says. “What are you doing here?” her eyes are so huge right now.
“Ireallyneeded to see my girl,” I tell her.
“Okay. What are they doing here?” she points to her family and mine.
“I asked them to be here.”
“What?”
“We all arrived yesterday,” I tell her. “Do you know why it was so important for them to be here?”
Her chest heaves up-and-down.
“Aren’t you going to guess?” I press.
“I’m so dizzy, I think I’m going to faint,” she says.
