“One thing is certain, you’ll never have to deal with the Boggess sisters ever again,” Loki says.
“I know. I couldn’t handle not knowing when the other shoe was going to drop. It’s no way to live.”
“It’s understandable. Dawn did a good job extending things so it turned into slow torture. It’s amazing how she managed to manipulate Grant.”
“Poor guy,” I say. “If I wasn’t dealing with my own shit fest, I would’ve felt sorry for him. And Glenda.”
Once Falcon Crest connected the dots, I reached out to Seraphina via social media to get Grant’s number. We talked for an hour. He felt really sorry he was the cause of this debacle. Dawn had turned his life into a nightmare. She was harassing Glenda by bombarding her with nasty text messages. Grant’s apologies were kind, but it wasn’t his fault. Dawn Boggess is a sick, angry and seriously vindictive woman. She was blackmailing him and terrorizing Glenda while planning to extort money from me.
What a piece of shit.
Thank God Falcon Crest out-smarted her.
There's nothing quite like a scorned woman venting about men to get another woman to open up. That's exactly what one of Falcon Crest’s female bodyguards did. A few text messages exchanged on my old phone and Dawn thought I had some more dirt on Grant and Glenda. She was caught hook, line and sinker, too eager to share a Facebook profile. It wasn't her main one, but it was enough to track her down. You can't be on Facebook unless you're on the Internet, which means you're using an IP, which means you leave a digital footprint. And just like that, the hacker was hacked, putting an end to her reign of terror.
“That was so fucking taxing on everyone,” Loki growls.
“Sure was,” I agree.
“Have you decided if you’re going after Dawn?”
Grant is suing her.
So is Glenda.
Seraphina’s lawyers are concocting something too.
When Dad found out about Dawn, he was already on the phone with his lawyers. I asked him to wait. I needed a little bit more time.
“I’m suing both Dawn and Denver,” I say.
“You’re really going for it?!”
“She had a problem with Grant. Not with me. She didn’t even know me, yet she decided she was going to use me as her meal ticket. Stella and Hayden were in the crossfire. So were you. I want to send a clear message to any asshole out there who might make the mistake of thinking I’m an easy target.”
“Dawn needs to learn a lesson.”
“Yes, she does. So does Denver. I spoke to Dad earlier this morning about it. He’s already briefed one of the most formidable lawyers in LA.” Translation, this guy is vicious. “I was going to tell you––”
Loki reaches for my hand. “Good for you for going all the way. I’ll be by your side through this… just like I’ve been for the past month. Once we get off this island, your safety will still be my priority.”
I return his warm smile.
What a man.
My eyes are still boring into his, when my phone chimes.
I slide my gaze to my screen.
I stop breathing.
“What is it?” Loki asks.
“It’s Isobel Wolfe. She’s calling me back.”
Loki chuckles. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
“What if she has an answer?”
