“I don’t understand what’s going on here,” Loki says.

“It’ll all be clear soon,” Lazarus assures him.

Way too clear, I’m afraid.

Loki reads out the next name. “Grant Brantly. Who is he?” He hasn’t clued in yet. “Why have I— Wait. Grant Brantly…?! As intheGrant Brantly?!” Loki bounces his eyes from mine to Lazarus’s. “Holy shit,” he grumbles.

“I gather you know him… so does Kyla.” It’s not a question. Lazarus knows. They all know.

I’ve stooped to a new low.

“Kyla, am I right? You know Grant Brantly?” Lazarus isn’t backing down.

“Sort of,” I answer with a one-shoulder shrug.

“You’ve met, right?” Lazarus asks.

“I think so… for coffee… twice.”

That’s not a lie.

“So, we’re all on the same page here?” Lazarus asks a pointless question.

“What does Grant have to do with the hacker?” Loki asks.

“Grant Brantly, aka Mr. Pussy, is where this story starts,” Lazarus says.

“He’s the one behind this?” Loki’s shock is evident.

“No,” Lazarus confirms. “He’s alover, not a fighter… and certainly not a cyber-attacker.”

“I don’t understand. How does he fit in?” Loki asks.

Thank God he’s here because I don’t have the courage to ask questions.

“Grant has madequitea reputation for himself for auniquetalent.” I admire Lazarus for saying that with a straight face.

“I still don’t follow,” Loki says.

“From what we gather—from hours and hours of reading strings of text messages that were hacked from his phone—helovescurves,” Lazarus says.

“Is that a crime?” Loki asks.

“Not at all,” Lazarus says.

“So where are we going with this?” I sense Loki is as impatient as I am.

“Grant is a little greedy bastard,” Lazarus sneers.

“Greedy? In what way?” I find my voice.

“Do you know of a Dawn Boggess?” Lazarus asks me.

“No, I don’t. Is she another one of the women on the list?”

“She put this list together.”

Huh?
