“Do you know how many times I’ve reserved a room at Quintus or Dark Compulsion and stayed the night?”

She shakes her head. “No.”

“Never,” I tell her. “I’ve never spent the night with any of my hookups. Not here. Not at my place. Not at hers. Not at any other hotel in the city or the world.”

“Oh.”

“Do you know how many times I’ve chased after a woman because I was desperate to see her again?”

“No.” That comes out as a whisper.

“Never. And you want to know why?”

“Why?”

“Because I’ve never spent three years wanting a woman so damn much. And after spending the night fucking her ten ways to Sunday, the only thing I wanted to do the next day was wrap myself around her sinful body and feel her warmth.” I pause. “But she was gone.”

“I…” instead of finishing her sentence, she just shakes her head.

“This attraction between us, Kyla… I thought if I just get it out of my system… if I could just have you once, I’d be able to explain why I craved you for so long. One night and I’d be able to move on. But you know what?”

“What?”

“One night only made me crave you more.”

“Really?”

“Do you know how many times I’ve taken a cold shower this past week in the hopes of tempering my physical reaction to you?”

“No.”

My gaze lowers to her full, kissable lips. “Too many times to count.”

“Loki,” she rasps.

“Loki, what?” I dare.

I let my fingers trail up her arm. This close, her expensive perfume tickles with my nose. The hint of rose scent is subtle and seductive.

The electricity zapping between us nearly knocks me off the couch. It’s as strong as it was a week ago.

Her eyes fly up to mine.

“You felt it too?” I ask.

She places her fingertips against her bottom lip. “I did.”

“Do you want more, Kyla?” She looks away, but I won't allow it. I place my fingers under her chin and force her to keep her eyes on me. “I want an answer.”

Her gaze falls to my mouth and she wets her lower lip with her tongue. “I do.”

Thank the fuck God.

“Guess what?”

“You’re full of questions tonight,” she laughs.

“I know. Indulge me this last one.”
