“What about Harlow?” she asks in a soft voice. “Are you going to tell her or should I?”

“She already knows.”

“What?” Kyla’s eyes go wide. “Did Stella or Hayden tell her?”

I shake my head emphatically. “Your cousins would never betray you. They’re very loyal and very protective. Harlow and I spoke yesterday. I just didn’t see any reason to hide what you and I share. It’s not like we’re doing anything wrong.”

“Oh God, she must feel jilted.”

“I explained we weren’t ready to tell the world. She understands.”

“So she’s okay about us seeing each other?” The uncertainty in her eyes is evident.

“She’s happy for us.”

“Wow.” She blinks her surprise. “I was so worried––”

“Don’t be. She thinks we’re a great match.”

“I also think we’re a pretty great match,” Kyla says with a touch of shyness.

“We’re solid.”

She gives me an enthusiastic nod.

“My family already loves you and I’d like to think it’s mutual for yours––”

“It is. My family has such an enormous amount of respect for you.”

“There’s nothing in our way, my sexy little dumpling.”

She laughs. “I guess not.” Her expression turns serious. “Do you think we should send Grant and Glenda thank you gifts? After all, without Mr. Pussy dumping me for Big Ass Glenda, we wouldn’t be standing here.”

I didn’t see that one coming.

I explode in laughter.

I pull her into my arms. “You’re precious. And you’re mine.”

“I’m yours.”

“You want to try on your real gift?” I ask. “I can’t wait to see it on you.”

She wiggles out of my hold.

“This is beautiful,” she marvels, her gaze on the bracelet she’s still holding. “Can I try it on later?”

“Sure,” I say, a little confused.

I’m just about to ask her if she doesn’t like it, but she precedes me.

“I love it, but I don’t want to get any scratches or dents on it.”

“I don’t follow.”

She drops the bracelet in its box before returning her attention to me. Her eyes bore into mine when she says, “My boyfriend wants a dance.”

I smile.
