“What about you, Hayden?” I ask.

“I really can’t complain,” She says with a smile. “It was a fun night. The silent auction was off the charts. You wouldn’t believe how much money people are willing to bid on paraphernalia from their favorite movies.”

“What about you?” Stella asks me.

“Yeah? How was it?” Hayden chimes in. “I got home at midnight and knocked on your door, but you didn’t answer. I couldn’t tell if you were sleeping or still out.”

“I didn’t get back home until four.”

“What?” Hayden’s eyes bulge out of her skull.

“Your event must’ve been amazing,” Stella says.

“The first part of the evening was pretty uneventful,” I say. “What happenedafterdinner was.” I take a long sip of my wine, my eyes bouncing from one cousin to the other over the rim of my glass. Stella and Hayden lean into the table, waiting expectantly.

“Are you going to elaborate?” Hayden asks. “Because everything about that cocky look in your eyes suggests there’s more.”

“Loki was there.”

They both gasp.

“Awkward,” Stella says.

“To say the least,” Hayden says.

“It was the strangest coincidence… considering neither of us was supposed to be there in the first place. Believe it or not, we were both standing in for someone else.”

“Interesting…” Stella says. “Last week, you ended up at the same hotel to meet up with a booty call that ditched you––”

“And look at that. Yesterday was Thursday… one week later,” Hayden says.

“I reckon there’s a supernatural force at work here,” Stella notes.

“I reckon you’re right,” I say.

Over two more glasses of wine, I pour my soul to my cousins.

When I’m done, Stella is squinting hard at me. She opens her mouth like she’s about to ask the question, but she quickly changes her mind.

Hayden’s head is cocked to the side, her jaw dropped.

“A sex club?” Stella finally asks.

“An upscale private adult club for the Hollywood elite,” I correct.

I sound like a freaking billboard.

“Like that makes a big difference,” Stella snaps.

“Standing up? In front of a window?” It’s as if Hayden only clues in now.

“What about the rocking against his finger part?” Stella nearly whispers. “Hello! That’s fucking hot,” she says before biting against her closed fist.

“Jesus, woman, I don’t even recognize you anymore,” Hayden says. “I mean, who the hell are you?”

“For real,” Stella says. “But, kudos to you for going there.” She even claps.

“I always had a feeling my sex life was pretty pathetic. Now I know,” Hayden says.
