CHAPTER 20
Lochlan
Fuck. I hate this situation.
I can’t blame those teenage girls for what happened, but the confusion over Bliss and I made things awkward between Kyla and I.
As if things weren’t weird enough.
I swear I saw hurt flashing in Kyla’s big beautiful brown eyes, but it doesn’t make any sense. She’s the one who left me high and dry. Still, I have to find her so we can clear the air between us.
I’ve been going from one party room to another in the hopes of finding her.
No such luck.
It’s like she vanished into thin air.
My parents’ arrival delayed me. That gave Kyla a good head start. Still, I’m determined to find her. Luckily, I know my way around. My production company has rented out Building 22 many times in the past for video shoots.
She must be in the gardens.
As I exit one room, I bump into a guy.
“I’m sorry— Holy shit, Channing Stasiewski?!”
“No harm done,” he says. “Do I know you?”
“No. I’m a huge fan. TheJason Wicksmovies are badass.”
“I’m flattered. And you are?”
“Lochlan Berkshire.”
We shake hands.
“Well, Lochlan, pleased to meet you.”
“Same here.”
“I’m sorry, but I have to run. I’m heading to another event. See you around.”
“Have a good night.”
I watch him walk away, shaking my head in amazement.
I just met the director of one of my favorite action thriller film series.
I’m about to resume my mission when something above my head catches my attention—a soft pink veil of fabric floating up the stairs.
Found you, gorgeous.
I rush to the spiral staircase and take the stairs two by two until I reach her.
No way I’m letting her out of my sight.
“Why don’t I help you,” I say, placing my hands around her wrist. “Those gold skyscrapers look dangerously high.”
“Lo—Loki?!” she does a double take.
