“It hurts,” she whimpers.

Xav hands me a bottle of rye. And then he gets down on the floor and holds her as I hold the bottle to her lips.

“Drink this,” I say, “it’ll help. Then we’ll get you some food for later, or?—”

“No. I want you both.”

She sits up and pushes at the towels, kicking them away as she drunkenly gets up in a kneeling position.

“Iris,” I say, once more looking at Xav. “You’re in heat, you don’t know what you’re saying.”

“I’m in heat,” she whispers, “and it came on hard, but I hurt, and I know what’s going to help.”

“You’re confused.”

“No, I’m not. The world keeps coming at me. I can’t think or walk straight, and even those Alphas in the bar made me want to crawl over their tables and taste them all.”

Xavier says.

As if she knows what he signed and is taking it literally, she pulls free of him and she rips off her top, leaving those lovely tits that are now pushing, nipples so fucking hard, at electric blue lace, there for us to ogle.

“Fuck me,” she says. “Please.”

CHAPTER

THIRTY

Iris

The world is in a haze, and it’s almost like I’m seeing it from the inside of a fishbowl, and when I swim close to certain parts things come into focus.

Like now.

Killian in front of me, my words in the air.

And the need and desire on his face fuels mine.

There’s movement behind me and I swim, into the pain and confusion, to see clear, Xavier’s darker skin, dark blue eyes, shaved head, scar and tattoos. And the sensual mouth.

I hone in on that. The desire he can hide with his gaze can’t hide in his micro tells.

I’m not even sure what they are or if I picked them up before, but now it’s a superpower, the softening of that unsmiling mouth. The slight parting.

He wants me, too. It burns in the air.

The three of us. A world of want. Desire and that sexual thing is what keeps the pain dulled, the confusion compressed.

I’m clear when I look at them, flying when I touch.

What will happen if they both take me?

Fuck me?

A fever ripples through me, heat radiating out, like it can capture them.

On the way here I lost it, I remember that. Delaying, denying, taking a dampener that I hoped would keep things at bay until I got here. My strange haven.

Mari thinks they’ll take me where I said I needed to go. To Pen’s.
