That spanking’s fucking coming.
My entire body goes into overdrive. The romantic and the depraved. I want them both.
Even though I suspect they aren’t even aware the other’s texting me, I can’t help but picture them both egging each other on.
Only if you catch me.
Killian
I’ll have Xav hold you down.
I don’t think so.
Already, I’m wet between my thighs.
Killian
We will. And you’ll fucking take it and beg. For. More.
The front door slams right as my mini lights up, but I don’t have time to check as I lock down both and hide them under the blankets.
“Iris!” Rue shouts. “Come down! Heath says you’re back.”
Someone runs up the stairs, and Mari bursts in a second later. She looks me up and down. “You look the same.”
“Why would I look any different?”
“You don’t smell any different.” Relief floods her face as she leans in.
“Penrith has some killer new blocker,” I whisper.
But then, she meets my gaze and lowers her voice. “Areyouokay? You know, after everything?”
I know what she means, so there’s no need to say it out loud. I just offer her a small smile. “Yes, actually. More than okay.”
She moves back and grins. “Good.” To my surprise, she doesn’t mention anything about owing her for keeping my secret. Instead, she changes the subject all together. “Is it true Penrith’s throwing a ball in the Gardener family name? Heath told Mom…”
“Yep. It is. Pen asked for my help. So that means we have a lot of planning to do.”
“We? You and Pen?”
“You and me,” I say. “Violet’s so big, she’s about to burst, and Dahlia’s not into this stuff. Rue is, but she’s way too young and I need someone on my side to make sure this thing isn’t a huge bore.”
“Me?”
“You. One, you’re full of creative ideas, and two, I’m going to need the moral support.”
She smiles, but it wobbles. “First you have to talk to Mom. Alone. She’s waiting for you downstairs.”
Mom’s alone in the living room, back to the door, shoulders stiff.
“I’m glad you’re all right,” she says, somehow knowing I’m there the moment I step in. “A mother worries.”
Horror hits me. I never thought…I didn’t… “Mom?—”
“I guess I understand why you went to Penrith’s. With the way Heath has been…”
